A sad day indeed , no other family of birds have made such an impact as the Janssen brothers

Posted

Louis is hitting the 100 mark now i would think maybe its just his time to let his birds go he gave the pigeon world the greatest family of birds the world has ever seen

thought other people may have been involved in the sale but he has gone to the biggest auction house in the world the unfortunate thing is that many of these birds will go to the far east

Posted

yup these will all go to the far east , shame the big studs didn't club together to keep them as a family and keep them here

I think pipa is not helping our sport one bit by marketing these pigeons and the like in china etc

the lines will be lost forever unless you can pay top dollar for the offspring

\\\\\\\why cry over washed out rubbish like that, those boys and others like them milked dopey british fanciers dry for years, good riddance to bad rubbish, lol

I must say they are legends. Great birds that have done well and are were at the base of very many strains.

Must say however that I don't agree with OLDYELLOW personally though. Bussearts have now more than over took them. Indeed in the last 20 years Janssens haven't been around as such, if only stock birds .... whereas Bussearts are still dominating at all distances here and there, and I'd wager top nigh every fed in Great Britan! And of course are still very strong in the stock lofts. JMO

I fear also that there is very much truth in waht Tommy says quote '\\\\\\\why cry over washed out rubbish like that, those boys and others like them milked dopey british fanciers dry for years, good riddance to bad rubbish, lol' this is and has been true, not least taken up via many Feather Merchants' to enable the selling of the name!

is there any truth that the janssens only ever flew 90 odd miles?

they flew longer once or twice but there birds dominated the longer races in Holland especially

the likes of jan grondelars who probably in the top 3 fanciers ever in belg always introduced sprint birds to his longer distance family as his theory was that top winning sprint birds had to have excellent homing instincts pros roosen done something the same with his soontjens introducing the Chateauroux and few others only to dominate the middle distance results like never seen before bart and luc Geerinckx done the same thing with soontjens crossing them to dominate longer races leo hermens switched practaily the same birds from sprint to longer races to winning in the top combine in belguim

there just a few geo food for thought on moving forward with a family of pigeons i tend to agree that so called sprint birds can compete on the longer races crossed they should have no problem at all

Jannssen senior himself - only one season - flew the distance with very much merit.

Think that this highlights the point that system dictates the distances one wishes to fly. Plus of course - like all Jannsenns greats, it was / is the outcross of new blood that added the vigour, vitality etc. so much needed. If the constitution is right of course.

And don't for get that incest breeding was more than a no go ... as was the 'Unnatureal pratice of widowerhood early on.

think most went to jannssen as it added something there family as they were so close bred all revolving around from the the blue of 48 and the bange of 51 which produced the bange of 59 in the early days these birds would be found numerous amount of times in peds of the great racers of jannssens

It may be just rumour and hear say but does anyone know for sure if the Janssen Brothers introduced birds back from Louis Van Loon??

just been saying the same thing in pm lol only 5 mins ago to oy

it maybe true as van loon himself was a very private man that did not want the limelight like the janssens had his results were every bit as impressive as the famous bros :emoticon-0138-thinking:

terrific fanciers and pigeons at the foundation of thousands of winners all over the world

Not sure that this is the sale I'd be spending at if I wanted Janssen based pigeons currently winning though :emoticon-0138-thinking:
