THE FIFER Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 ive got about 30 pair of crows nest right at back of loft and she stills sneaks in for a hit crows dont knows there untill she breaks cover are they carrion crows,
THE FIFER Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 yes if they are nesting usually wont let anything come near them, or in their area, even other crows, you normally only see one nest in a tree,
billt Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 yes They would not be Carrion Crows, they are solitary birds and not nest in colonies, only crows to do that would be Jackdaws or Rooks
yeboah Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 While driving down the road with my daughter one day witnessed a peregrine on top of a crow, also asked a shepherd what the peregrine lived on during the winter on the rock face where he farmed and he said if they cant get what they fancy they just eat the crows, and i have also found there remains at nest sites along with lapwings seagulls etc, basically they eat anything when hungry, bit like some on this site

Roland Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Two realisms and factual things here. Crows are clever oppertunists. Once they see B.O.P.S they do one or two things. Harrass them in 'Their' Territory, granted. Or they wait for them to kill and scupper up the remains. Being very clever and resilliant birds.... However, CROW do and will attack young pigeons and rip them to pieces. and descrate you loft sooner or later. They are know to even enterr and kill the youngsters in nests, and those flying out in the lofts.B.O.P. soon make short thrift of them when they decide too, or get hungry... hard winter. NO two ways about that. I had magpies 50 yards or so either side of my loft. They were shifted by Crows who used their' nests. Then a couple of Sparrow Hawks that shifted them on. I was lucky as the Hawks are now gone.Magpies are a pain, so I am this week moving them on ... as they are back. Would rather have Sparrow hawks... Mind they get head aches if and when they fly into glass at speed.
