eastcoaster Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 The Lottery wont get involved as it has passed the time stated .
Guest IB Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 If a club gets lottery funding it has to accept people if they like them or not and it also means you have no boundarys i think thats for 5 years if they cause trouble within the club or there motive is to bring about the collapse of the club there is rules in place to deal with that. I had a look at the Lottery 'Awards for All' Guidelines and this is the only paragraph that comes anywhere near to what you claim:- "If your organisation has a membership, we will check that it is open to all and that anyone can join, unless you are able to provide a good reason in your application why this is not the case. We will usually consider proposing and seconding to be unacceptable and we expect there to be the right of appeal for anyone refused membership. We will check that your membership rules do not contravene equalities legislation and that subscription fees are not prohibitive." Can't see how 'no boundaries' would work in a local setting. If your clubhouse premises can only accommodate parking for 5 cars, house 20 people and 20 baskets comfortably, and has only 2 toilets available for members' use, membership cannot possibly be made anything other than local, and nothing approaching 'countrywide'. Common sense - and the clubs' physical limitations - would cover 'good reason' for it not to be 'open to all'. The Lottery may 'usually consider' 'Proposing & Seconding' unacceptable but this procedure is an integral part of many, many organisations constitutions, and not only in GB. I think the last sentence explains clearly what 'open to all' really means - membership rules do not contravene equalities legislation - in other words no membership application will suffer discrimination on the grounds of age, race, ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, disability, religion etc etc. And The Lottery cannot hope to enforce equalities legislation while contravening another piece of Legislation - the Human Rights Act (Article of Association). The right to associate with a person or group also includes the right not to, for 'good reason' - e.g. that you find the person's behaviour offensive & objectionable..
