Having many pm's regards a cheap electric fence I have decided it would be simpler to post asa to reply individually.

A farmer told me how to do this a few years back - in a country store, and the store owner confirmed it! They stated it is better that a bought one that runs in loops, whereas this is on constant.

Instead of a battery – 12 Volt, which runs flat etc. use a Battery Charger instead that doesn't and hence more safer, use a 12 volt battery cahrger. One can buy one for less than £10 now adays.

Plastic / or rubber are good insulators and easy found... a bit of an ole hose pipe.

Some rub sardines on the wire first off, to entice a nose on it... but I have never bothered. They can smell electric apparently, and they certainly gety the gist once it touches them. They are legal, and if in own yard no notice is needed to be put up.

I have mine running around the loft … three strands now, but one four inches high suvices as they'll crawll under with their tail up. They nevber come back, and aren't hurt in the slightest.

And for a sake of a tenner and peice of mind eh!

Mine is on 24 / 7. Miss the fun because think many had a touch at night and as such never see any now.... not even the next doors, over the fences etc. Place is crawling with them, but nary a one here abouts, no nieghbours moaning etc. as they didn't have to know, and thje cats have learnt, so all is hunky dorry now eh! :emoticon-0140-rofl: :emoticon-0140-rofl: :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Had an electric fence round my hen house area and my gun dog decided to have a pee on it. After jumping 4 feet of the ground he did not stop quivering for 30 minutes. He never went within 20 yards of that fence again.
