Its that time of year to start treaing the birds,prior to breeding season.I keep hearing about the three in one mix ie cancer coxci etc does anyone use these,are they any good? Deb

Deb get them tested you might not need to give them anythink and your save money jmo

I think Andy is saying 'why treat if there is nothing wrong' Deb. :)

 

Get a droppings and throat swab test kit, send it off and then act on the results, treating only if you are advised its necessary.

Thanks for that IB maybe I need to change my routine,I have always treated this way.Greenlands recomended a flyer who does the testing,not far from me.Who I found to be really good and helpful and intend useing again this year.

I feel it is always better getting the birds tested. That way you have something 'real' to go by. Winter 2010/11 mine came back clear. I considered that to be positive proof that the birds were healthy, had good immunity and my loft management was just right.

Hello,if your loft is dry should never be any need for cocci treatment,if birds are in good order with silky feathering no need to worm,but i always always treat for canker when they are sitting 10 day eggs then you are sure of healthy youngsters,no good starting to treat if all is not well with the squabs ,to me that would then be to late ,omo .
