OLDYELLOW Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 Well It's that time of year to do a few tweaks to loft to hopefully improve conditions for the following season .Loft before photos :right hand side section before :After with new door : if you look on this photo to the right hand side there's not much light and that's with door fully open . Old door before Old Door Boarded up Old side wall to young bird loft After with new door view from inside widowhood loftBack of widowhood door in young bird loft Boarded up middle two doors and added new hole for mini aviary Al boarded up and meshed ready for mini aviaries to go on ETS Trap / Mini aviary / automatic basketing , nearly done
OLDYELLOW Posted September 13, 2011 Author Report Posted September 13, 2011 I hate it never liked it since was delivered however be a lot better after I've finished got most of new door cut out been a bit crap with rain so been doing it on and off the light transformation inside the loft is brilliant I'm really pleased more light more heat more air flow , hopefully will translate to better performance by my birds
THE FIFER Posted September 13, 2011 Report Posted September 13, 2011 I like plenty air, I think this is a problem now a days too many lofts closed in, I would love a loft with a corridor in it,
OLDYELLOW Posted September 13, 2011 Author Report Posted September 13, 2011 corridors to me are a must in lofts these days with ets thats why i'm changing loft my young bird loft will have a corridor in as my hens and cocks will trap to yb loft entrance so they'll only ever have one entrance for life and will only need one ets pad
OLDYELLOW Posted September 15, 2011 Author Report Posted September 15, 2011 be much better fer ets next year , and can bath all birds in mini aviaries and basket them up in them as well
PATTY BHOY Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 I hate it never liked it since was delivered however be a lot better after I've finished got most of new door cut out been a bit crap with rain so been doing it on and off the light transformation inside the loft is brilliant I'm really pleased more light more heat more air flow , hopefully will translate to better performance by my birds where did you get the loft from?
OLDYELLOW Posted September 21, 2011 Author Report Posted September 21, 2011 where did you get the loft from? I wouldn't advertise a bad company :emoticon-0127-lipssealed:
andy Burgess Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 looks good Mark ,youve been busy , and what a change with the extra light coming in , i like the idea of trapping to one point for all for life too.
OLDYELLOW Posted September 21, 2011 Author Report Posted September 21, 2011 Cheers Andy , it's going slow but I'll get there next photos will be added when built my traps after I've finished removing old doors and making new ones
PIGEON_MAN Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Mark is it possible you can put a link up to where you built the nestboxes as I,m thinking of building some the same,if it is also possible will I be able to print measurements and pictures off.
OLDYELLOW Posted September 22, 2011 Author Report Posted September 22, 2011 I think I put it on sticky I'll have a look It is on sticky : http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/topic/3880-building-my-widowhood-boxes/ just simply right click the drawings save as to your computer and print from file you may need to alter height of big pieces to height of your loft tho If I was to remake the boxes I think id put mesh floors in the floor grills are a waste of time
greenlands Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Managed to aquire some plastic sheets, fitted them on the storm end of the old bird loft to try and stop the water getting through.Pics show more or less before and after but the painted loft is the young birds.I'll be doing the other end of the young bird loft next week.Lindsay
OLDYELLOW Posted September 22, 2011 Author Report Posted September 22, 2011 looks tidy Lindsay as long as keep the rain out and protects the wood will make yer loft last much longer

alex wight Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 Looking to fit some perspex panels to the roof of the both lofts and incorporate vents at the same time. I feel the loft is too stuffy, and not bright enough. I,ll get some photos in due course.
