excellent JAM ,very amusing , i am just off to get some maps resized and write a wee note for my youngsters reading " on Saturday ,get a bloomin move on " :emoticon-0136-giggle:

didnt they do something like this with mice ? only they used some form of a drug

 

they claimed success claiming the drug was highly addictive? if i remember rightly what they didnt tell you was they used the same method of adminstration as they did for food so the mice went for food but got high instead

There's been a few progs on TV about pigeons ability to recognise different things, and memorise around 1000 images. Shown a similar experiment to this except images were flashed on one wall, and bird got its treat from dispensers on 2 different walls, which one depended upon the image shown.

 

Also the one USAF used to train birds held captive on search & rescue planes to recognise downed airmen - and peck on image when it spotted one in the sea.

 

I think that's what the landmark theory of navigation is based on.
