Guest Owen Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 I think that elderberries are just another fad that people have got into. At one time or another I have tried out all sorts of fads and fancies and over time I have dropped them off. My results have never been better and yet I do not bother with specifics or much medication. The main requirement of my birds is clean water in clean dishes, fresh chopped garlic and I keep an eye out for worms. I might treat my birds for Canker once in a year but I never treat for Cocci or Respiritory problems. I find that Hair worm is the biggest problem because it is very hard to shift. It often takes up to 3 treatments to clear it out completely. Back a few years ago I would spend a lot of money on various concoctions and medications thinking that the birds would benefit from it. I was so wrong because the less of that rubbish the birds get the better they are. In the days that I shuved all this junk into the birds I would have YBS as regular as clockwork every year. These days I never see it and I find that I have a tremendous advantage over my fellow Club Mates because my youngsters remain fit and healthy all year whereas theirs suffer with continual problems. If the peregrines would leave my birds alone my losses would be very small indeed.
