Michael 123 Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Hi all let my cock out on his own today and he went again straight back to his old home so that didn't work. Don't know what to try next, a man down the road who has racing pigeons has told me to kill them and get some more. Im not doing that. Any more ideas thanx Michael
greenlands Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Why let a pigeon out on it's own when it's not tame to your loft ??Keep him hungry let him out late at night with his hen.Should he persist in going back, chop an onion up put it in an empty feed bag and put the pigeon in the bag at the other loft, leave him in the bag for a hour or so.Release into is new loft.Good luck.Lindsay

Tried them when hungry.Thanx

greenlands Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Sorry mate I assumed his mate was tame to your loft, but the onion in a bag works.
Michael 123 Posted August 6, 2011 Author Report Posted August 6, 2011 is he getting into his old loft? if so, maybe worth asking the guy to shut him out, he may make his way back to the hen, worth a try m8 thanx m8 when they went before the bloke never fed them and they never went into his loft after 5 days i manage to catch them. So with a bit of luck he might come back
gulkie Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 keep trying him he will soon know where he gets fed
Delboy Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Let the pair out when the hen has laid one egg only, she will return to lay second and hopefully he will follow.
just ask me Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 never really done it but you would think it would be easier after rearing a few young ones
Michael 123 Posted August 7, 2011 Author Report Posted August 7, 2011 Enever really done it but you would think it would be easier after rearing a few young ones tried to get to breed had plenty of eggs but they either smash them or just don't sit. The last owner had the same problem
Guest peter4pm Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 get rid of them mate , you would be better off withv some young birds that havent been flown out before
