Had a peregrine strike tonight. She had a go at my old birds and sadly found a yearling hen at the back of the loft on the side of the road dead, don't know if the peregrine hit her and lost it's grip or if the pigeon hit a car trying to evade capture, whatever happened that's a granddaughter of our silver award doo gone :emoticon-0179-headbang:

I know how it feels, had my first Peregrine encounter last week and injured one of my young birds, healing ok but mentally knackered I expect.

I have noticed a vast difference in my birds temprement around the loft this year, they seem to be on edge all the time.I have trees at the rear of my loft and any movement, the birds are off.Even when seagulls go over at height the birds dont take their eyes off them.It just makes you wander how much the stress of running the gauntlet week in week out affects the birds mentality.

Myself and another one of the Inverness boys train out East of Elgin, the birds come back over a period of hours in ones and twos with two missing every time. I'm down to 18 youngsters now from 30. I have still not had areply from Alex salmond's office about my claim for compo. Don't suppose I ever will.
