At what stage would you take young away from there parents?

I have a pair who have laid there 2nd round of eggs but the 1st round chicks are still in the nest box and its a bit crowded.

as said put a pot of corn in box if eating move them.

when they are feathered under the wing and eating out of the pot in the nestbox. ,don't ask me how old they are though :emoticon-0137-clapping: .

 

that is when we split ours irrespective of age

some birds vary so there's no set age to remove them i find if there leaving the nest bowl its time to put a feed pot in as soon as there eating they can be moved :) at this stage they normally have most of the under wing minus a few feathers to complete the wing :) i think 24 to 28 days is about average but does differ in strains , but i feel you need to make weaning as stress free on the ybs and best way is to ensure feeding first , then you know there ready to look after themselves :)

myself for this year for 1st time i am not moving any off my own yb,s away from parents. all with fly and race to secsion or loft they where bred in.

i remove mine at 19 to 21 in most cases

have done 21 days in the past but i think 24 days is nearer my move time :)
