TrickyHannah Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 hi looking for sum advice. At our club agm 2 members preposed that we have a 2 bird time in rule. But the 2 members never gave the secretary any notice of the preposed new rule. { thought the secretary had to have all preposed motions in writing 7 days before the agm.} So the members voted and it was passed. A said to the secretary about it and said she would sort it she phoned the shu and they said that the new rule dose not stand. But the member that preposed the rule said it dose still stand. thanks for you help.
Henrik Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Any new rules that are passed have to be forwarded to the SHU for ratification. If the new rule has not been ratified by the SHU rules committee then it wont stand up to an appeal.
TrickyHannah Posted April 11, 2011 Author Report Posted April 11, 2011 so the new rule do not stand. the secretary phoned everyone to say the new rule dose not stand but the tow members that preposrd it says it dose.

Guest vining45 Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 our club has to have any new propositions for agm in writing so all members are aware and can vote on each topic no excuses or arguments then as they have it in writing
TrickyHannah Posted April 11, 2011 Author Report Posted April 11, 2011 but a don't think the secretary sent the new rule to the SHU
Guest IB Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Our club has a very different rule that places a limit of 5 on the number of club positions one member can take, but there is no restriction on the number of pigeons the member can clock and all birds timed go forward to the Fed for inclusion in that result. If memory serves correct, this was a proposal taken off the floor, voted on by members present and ratified by SHU. But only being allowed to clock 2 birds would drastically alter normal clocking arrangements and as it would also prevent a member winning more than 2 Club or Fed positions too, I believe the proposal does require 28 days notice in writing, so that the motion can appear on AGM Agenda for the info of all members - SHU Club Rule 8?
kirky Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 so the new rule do not stand. the secretary phoned everyone to say the new rule dose not stand but the tow members that preposrd it says it dose.well just let them clock 2 birds and the rest of you carry on as normal thay will soon change there minds.
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 well just let them clock 2 birds and the rest of you carry on as normal thay will soon change there minds. Assuming the guys that have proposed this aren't the ones taking the first 5,6,10,12 etc. Putting a restriction on the ammount of doos fanciers can time is not really something I've ever agreed with. Its usually aimed at one or two fliers in the club who will still take the first 2 and have many before the fanciers proposing this have there first arrival or am I wrong??Is this case different??
TrickyHannah Posted April 11, 2011 Author Report Posted April 11, 2011 it only a small club with 9 members everyone take a turn at winning a race. they used me as an excuse coz a timed 5 young bird to take all 5 places only coz a had 24 drop together and club mates were 15 mis behind members said thay didn't want to see our name in the paper as often and give other members a chance this will be my 2nd full year racing.

JADE Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 SHU Club Rule 8. Where any member wishes to alter delete or add to any recognised organised activities noticed of same must be given 28 days before the AGM to the Club Secretary (in writing) Agenda including resolutuions to be in members hands at least 7 days before meeting
Guest homestead Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 At an AGM meeting you would have your balance sheet and all propositions wrote down for all members to see so at least 7 days notice is needed. When the AGM meeting closes and any other business meeting opens thats differant members can propose and vote on other matters. When the 2 members brought up this proposition was it at the 1st or 2nd meeting ?
TrickyHannah Posted April 12, 2011 Author Report Posted April 12, 2011 it was in the first meeting spoke to the SHU and they said AGM's should not have any other business.
