Just read Linda Brooks letter in this weeks homing world looks like the end of the road with regards the hawk situation that has plagued our sport .

The Shu have exhausted many avenue's and in the end it has cost a fortune along with the many hours of work and we are worse off in terms birds of prey and there protection.

Looks like she is trying to prevent the rpra doing the same. I would like to thank the SHU members past and present for trying to help .

the only other way now is get the RSPCA on our side, let them see the cruelty pigeons and song birds are getting because of the over populated BOP, and how they are now in towns and back gardens which is not their natural habitat, and the RSPCA is just as big if not bigger than the RSPB

we better watch out according to Linda it might take a legal challenge if someone is caught trying to protect his/her pigeons

and it wont be cheap to hire lawyers

The songbird society and save our songbirds campaign is the way to go. A lot of key people in the organisation left the rspb due to the over protection and blinkered approach to raptors.

i think it will be near impossible to get the SSPCA which covers Scotland and the RSPCA which covers England and wales.to back any control of birds of pray.neither one of them could risk putting their society's name forward to control birds of prey by kulling some or by any other means.as much as we all hate the birds of prey that day in day out PREY on our birds across the country. to try and get the backing of a society that stands for stopping cruelty to ALL animals.having worked for the SSPCA myself some years ago i can,t see neither of them backing the control of BIRDS OF PREY .

I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO BE WRONG ON THIS

Michael, in terms of other club representation I wasn't aware of such a meeting

I can recall being at a quiz panel 20 years ago, one of the panel members whom was and still is a legend in our sport spoke of his anger at being pestered by hawks then...... he suggested the only viable solution to the problem as a whole was the bullet, his words not mine.

20 years later we are no further forward, countless campaigns, MP intervention, petitions and talk of protest walks etc have proved entirely fruitless and have been a total waste of time.

In otherwords... get of your rear ends and do something about it yourselves.

Stern words... if my opinion offends then so be it !!!

Sad to say but i feel that is our only way forward as no one seems to care about the homing pigeon .
