Big Davie Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 weve been in these transporters for 20 odd years now my own pigeons havent being gagging for water it wisnae that long ago that the transporters were the best in the buisness ,how come in the first races there gagging for water and there no in the longer races ,the only thing wrong with the transporters is the baskets should have got renewed along time ago p,s not arguin with anybody just sick of people stamping us intae the grun all the time, Frank 123,neither the baskets or transporters are pleasing on the eye but they are adequate for the job,got to agree with Tooshy boy wev,e travelled on these units for donkeys years with no problems in years gone by, i,ll tell you why the birds are looking for a drink now, years ago after the birds were race marked they went directly to the race point and were there with loads of time to spare which allowed them to get rested , settled and get a drink before they were liberated ,back then as soon as we got to the plus 200ml races they were marked on a Thursday, nowdays they sit somewhere overnight in a unit with thousands of birds creating a lot of heat and thirst, then the unit leaves allowing enough time to get to the race point arriving with say a max of 2 hours before lib, birds are not rested and many dont have enough time to force there way forward to the drinker, thats the problem nowdays and its all about cost rather the welfare of the birds, the only time we go on a Thursday now is when we go to the inland nats with the SNFC, at least then you know that the birds will be at the race point in plenty time to settle, rest, feed, and get a drink. Guest bigda Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 back on track about the 10p per ring that we pay above every other fed no thats £100for every thousand rings the Nat dose notcharge for rings t/f we then have £20 substhe Nat have subs, but no transporter,no baskets, we the lanarkshire have to pay the up keep of the transporter and the baskets, now back to the rings we issued 20,000-35,000 rings at a extra 10p each makes 2,000-£3,500 pound we then buy every thing we need from the fed sting books and then we pay £10 a basket to send thats not a problem, as we have the members now should we stay on our own as i think we should, as the national is charging us now £18.75 a basket at those cost we can go it alone after all its our transporter and we could take you all on our term and race points, for a union that has nothingand been able to wag the dog in the lanarkshire is beyond a joke we need a transporter a small one for our own distance men there might not be many but with the help of our own members sending and making a little profit we can help our pensioners send there birds to sartilyin our own wee van, at 75p a bird or what ever, why should we support a union that dose not give a toss to the race points that suit the west fliers, and your are only interested in your own advantages but i feel the lanarkshire men that want to go with the national go but don't hoodwink the rest of the members into thinking we cant go it alone, there are transporters out there we can hire, just like the Nat can doso don't pee down my leg and say it rainingthe subs we pay are there to run the fed no run the national
Henrik Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Why does Lanarkshire charge vat on the rings when you dont pay vat when you buy them from the SHU?
Guest bigda Posted February 7, 2011 Report Posted February 7, 2011 Why does Lanarkshire charge vat on the rings when you don't pay vat when you buy them from the SHU?we get charged vat on every thing we buythat i don't know why, no doubt there Will be a meeting shortly to go over diesel costs, then there will be more cost come the budget,so its important than we get a 7.5 ton transporter of our own as in years to come with hemp and linseed now a t £30 a bag even cooking oil is now £1.78 a litreour game will be about ended, there will be no big lots of birds kept. back to the transporter we could run this ourself and any birdage moneys from it, goes back into the fed to allow subsidization for other races although the fed is not set up to be a profit making concern, so extra cash in the bank other than say £15,000that is needed to dissolve it, we need to do more to help our selfs first, i also feel perturbed about the way the national has treated the west members of there union, the west Nat men, have went out on a limb to ask, and beg for a transporter for you all, yet when they asked for fair race points, yous have turned the other cheekswhat other part of the country has done more for the national, and its up keep you tell me, what other clubs in Scotland gives up there baskets and transporter, and men at baskiting, and as i say are treated like something that was stuck to yer shoes, i am hear as a help no a hindrance, as you might think.i see what has went on, and you are of the opinion, that thats is par for the course, me thinks you have yer slippers on and wanting someone to allways fill and pass you down yer pipes, if you don't start putting your own shoulder to the wheel as the days on depending on the good old boys from the west theses days are over.
