Having been to Blackpool this year, and through talking to fanciers there, and also reading posts on here and other sites, there seems to be some who feel that Blackpool was a disappointment this year, and is slowly getting worse each year.

For those of you who attended, what was your impression of the show this year?

And if you were disappointed, why?

Personally, once again I enjoyed my weekend, how ever, I did feel there were not so many stalls in the winter gardens this year.

Thank You

I wasnt disappointed but though the show was a bit Quieter than usual. The only really bad thing was that the bar ran out of John Smiths on the Sunday morning and I had to revert to lager.

I felt it was quieter than in past however I think that's due to outside sales , as always there are those of us that are disabled and a lot of older guys who have bad mobility and there weren't enough seating areas which have seriously depleted over the years and no tables in basement next to cafe as were in past years , this needs addressing as older and disabled fanciers simply wont go , I really think that a newer venue would be better have it all on one floor and more seating areas , the biggest problem is the parking costs which has gone up and up over the years .Other than the aches and pains i still have i had a great day , but a new venue and more thought into seating areas would be greatly appreciated by all :)

i attended with my mrs ...and the first thing my mrs said to me after 5 mins in the winter gardens on the saturday was ...its really quiet ....Yes folks it looks like good ole Blackpool is on a downward spiral regarding people attending ....not as many stalls this year ethier which was dissapointing also.

All in all it was an ok show ..but i wont be attending next year i dont think , as it will just be the same as the last two years . nothing changes in sandy cove to make you want to go again....

yes agree not as active as it has been, but still fanciers there to buy their bits n bobs, and the most part to meet old and new friends, and a break away from the lofts for a couple of days, I agree on the seating bit,not much around, and hopefully basics will have a place next year for members to stop off and have a chat and a seat, :emoticon-0167-beer: :emoticon-0167-beer: and the Winter Gardens is getting a bit done up so hopefully a lot better for next year, :pidge: :pidge: :emoticon-0137-clapping:

I would agree with much of Marks comments, regarding disability access and lack of seating. Maybe there wasn't as many stalls as in the past, but like has already been said this is probably due to outside sales. It will always be a difficult issue to try and please everyone, but for me personally, I feel that moving the show from Blackpool would lose all the nostalgia and character that has become part of the occasion. I have been to all the shows, at many venues, down the years, and none of them comes anywhere near Blackpool for the comradeship, socialising and volume of pigeon fanciers who attend. JMHO

THE Reddings were pleased with Huge Attendance at the best show to date, Attendance was up 6% on last year with 20,000 visitors in Attendance, so not bad really, :emoticon-0137-clapping: :emoticon-0137-clapping:

Find that a little strange as I thought it was easier to get around this year but I suppose the ticket sales tell the right story.

I AM LIKE YOU A THOUGHT IT WAS A LOT QUIETER THIS YEAR. AS FOR BLACKPOOL ITSELF IT BADLY NEEDS A FACE LIFT AS DO MOST OF THE HOTELS APART FROM THAT STILL THOUGHT IT BRILLIANT :emoticon-0167-beer: :emoticon-0167-beer: :emoticon-0167-beer::egyptian: :egyptian: :egyptian:

Same here, lots of stands missing, yes the seating area needs addressing, people pinching our chairs at the arena  although I enjoyed myself seeing everyone, old & new friends, probably still go next year :)

This was my first Blackpool show as been flying 6 years, I thought it was great, the Winter Gardens is a completly different experiance to any other venue ive every seen and was interesting finding all the different shows and arenas, when I got a bit leg tied I went and had a sit down in the Auction theatre - great place to relax and watched all these loaded fanciers splashing the cash, Stayed friday and Saturday night :002: and met some great people and had a few jars, going again next year, cant wait.

just going by the article from the Reddings, in the RP, and they should know how many tickets sold, it could be the winter gardens walk about is quieter because lots are sitting in at auctions,

ok ticket sales might of been high , but did all buying tickets attend how did they get the numbers ???? if was counting handed tickets in fair enough , but i thought was a lot quieter than recent years I didn't have to shuffle everywhere

i seem to remember them saying last year there was 25,000 attended, also ticket price had gone up by £1 so are thay taking it on money from enterance fees in total as that would be up due to increase.
