THESE ARE 2 POSTS POSTED ON ANOTHER PIGEON SITE ABOUT RENNES......FOOD FOR THOUGHT FOR ANYONE THINKING IN PROPOSING IT

I made an enquiry as to where the site is at Rennes and was told by Linda at the RPRA that it was still at the old site, now I know that some people have had good races from there in the past BUT as a convoyer it is the worse bloody place in the whole of France. There are no facilities what so ever and now the abattoir is closed there is no water or toilets. the lib site is right next to the main line to Paris so when the birds are liberated they have to climb some 40 ft to clear the embankment and the the wires that power the trains, and along with others I have witnessed numerous birds colliding with then and falling in the field to the north of the lines. back in the nineties the BB&O fed had an enquiry as to this site and I was called as a witness hence the closing of the site.

So Chris if you are still set on going there may I wish you the best of luck but personally Messac is by far the best site at that distance.Freelander

For years in the 70s and 80s convoyers were reporting this site to be awful - as I rememeber, the main problem was the railway power lines. Nevertheless, pigeon fanciers being who they are continued to vote to go there (dad and grand-dad went there so I want to as well), totally ignoring the advice of convoyers. I am amazed that the same site has been resurrected. You're never too good to learn

I'm sure Rennes is flown from another site now - it was in BHW a few years back. This site has facilities, and I think that's why going there was raised at a recent SNFC AGM. As I said in a previous post, other reasons were given and accepted by the floor for not going there.

480miles tae Liege frae fechan!

Do the members think the dog leg will come into play?

Will they come straight tae Hull then straight across the country or just head on up the East tae newcastle area and turn left for us in the south? Will they head even further north than newcastle before turning left for Lanarkshire and Ayrshire?

Steven, I asked a question a few pages back on this thread on what the returns were like from Liege in 2001,still haven't had a response, having spoken to a couple of fanciers who sent to this race they said is was a disaster

Having a good spread of section birds in the open result is one, having high losses is another.

Why the hell anyone wants to race from Belgium beggars beyond belief

No trying to scare anyone just stating what was the truth ,members on here been asking for the facts of this race so it has been posted,it has been stated on this post that dutch and belguim birds are always going to be a problem with this racepoint ,if we cant lib on a friday do you think they will hold back 70,000 plus pigeons for our convoy of 1100 dont think so you then state race them on a sunday that would mean extra 48 hours in baskets if sunday bad weather no one at home to clock birds as we are at work ,first time this one has ever been mentioned (clashed with dutch birds) cant remember that one being mentioned at time if it was written in convoyers report would love to see copy posted,if no such paperwork then just another fairytale.

don't know what part of the fairy tail to believe the race was over 10 years ago you are now saying there where 1100 doos and the dutch wont do diddley, again you say this never asking there help. Liege could have a lib early doos as the dutch will be no where near us at the lib time

if we had a early lib 4-30am-5am5-30am and now with the age of the mobile phone life is more easier

great achievement that Walter, nothing wrong with the race point there, as was it the time they had the

2008 race from alecon with a late lib of 12-45pm and you guessed it Walter, as you have been saying all along it was won in peterhead by Gordon willox

first open first north section the kings cup winner and the gold cup winner 1,376 birds 407 members

no excuse Walter what you have said is they are terrified to give up an advantage all you ask give you a chance and you will let them all know about you, and the boys from the north

YES DANNY IT ALL DEPENDS on the chance the controllers give the furthest flying birds and them that are flying into the hardiest routes of scotland but up till now the average 99 to 2 great odds more chance o winning lottery
