T_T Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Thanks for the reply pigeon man, I had visions of major alterations but looking at the rule and letting it sink in, it does state the word "Antennae" to be within the confines of the loft. One happy bunny. !!!
Roland Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I made my stall traps out of plastic, and just glued them together. Plastic is only any good OUTSIDE the loft, better weather wise. Worse thing I ever done nigh was have plastic inside, perches etc. Wood re - eacts better to the elements which is all important. Not meaning V perches of course. Thought I'd be able to just hose the inside out! Could to, but you can also with Waxed wood of course (Golly is there no ending to the wonders of bees eh!) so I went back to that. Have just replace 3/4 of the air vent for cladding for the winter. But will be making an Air Vent outside door, and inside door will be replaced with just wired frames. All my doors are sliders.
Guest spin cycle Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 o and this 1 looks like you've got it sussed. both designs look good. i reckon the rule is ambiguous and will probably be changed anyway. if an antennae can be inside a trap why can't it be under an external landing board. a conventional clocked bird can be picked up off a landing board and clocked. by rpras own admission timing systems are not uniform anymore just 'approved' so whats the point. this rule was one of the original rules...and about the only one that hasn't been changed yet.
OLDYELLOW Posted October 8, 2008 Author Report Posted October 8, 2008 as long as the antennae of the ETS is fitted within the confines of the loft or trapping systems, not underneath external landing boards then fine , i have either read it or heard previously that birds couldn't exit once clocked , but not stated in rules so only difference between external and interal couple of inch no bob wires at front needed as will slow birds entry looks like may get another sputnik lol
Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 this one where did you get that trap mate
Taylorsloft Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 a joiner made them he was a pigeon man
Guest Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 was it A EWAN stevie he made traps for quite a few fanciers in aberdeen does a right good job dave
Roland Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 How about this then, I have a 4' corridor and on the sliding door on the inside of the loft ( 4' from the front of course ) I have my pad underneath the landing board. My pigeons will fly throgh the outside open door and land on this and time in. They are within the confines of the loft but not confined within the loft. How would you read that, legal or not ? Legal, it is 'Within the confines...' and Doesn't mean WITHIN the confines of the loft.
speedbird Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 has anyone got pics of there unicon trapping system, here is picture of my set up anyone got any ideas without altering the front of loft i have internal mesh doors & was gonna put something on that
jakjak Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 I notice on one of the pics that the pads are sealed in place. Take it this a rule as well? who checks the seal?
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 someone from club is supposed to and take seal number
PIGEON_MAN Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 I notice on one of the pics that the pads are sealed in place. Take it this a rule as well? who checks the seal? I believe this is a rule up in Scotland, not in the Rpra.Would think that club officials could go round and check,
PIGEON_MAN Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 has anyone got pics of there unicon trapping system, here is picture of my set up anyone got any ideas without altering the front of loft i have internal mesh doors & was gonna put something on that Is there a corridor inside.
tskyes Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 IT`S OK SAYING THE PADS HAVE GOT TO BE ON THE INSIDE OF THE LOFT BUT FOR THOSE THAT HAVE A STALL TRAP AND A T3 ON A SHELF UNDER IT WHO HAS THE ADVANTAGE COS AT THE END OF THE DAY NEITHER MAKES THE BIRDS COME HOME ANY FASTER SO THE QUICKER PEOPLE REALISE THIS THE BETTER !
PIGEON_MAN Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 IT`S OK SAYING THE PADS HAVE GOT TO BE ON THE INSIDE OF THE LOFT BUT FOR THOSE THAT HAVE A STALL TRAP AND A T3 ON A SHELF UNDER IT WHO HAS THE ADVANTAGE COS AT THE END OF THE DAY NEITHER MAKES THE BIRDS COME HOME ANY FASTER SO THE QUICKER PEOPLE REALISE THIS THE BETTER ! No offence mate but I hope we have moved on know from all the arguments about who as the better advantage etc.We were having all those 18 months ago so please dont lets start again.
T_T Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Young bird ETS landing board outside illegal through bob holes onto internal pad, legal
T_T Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 The above is how I shall be trapping in 2009. I've got the widow cocks falling from the sky directly onto the pad in my corridor and my youngsters just tumble into the loft in their section onto the pad inside. I don't think I can have it any better. All I pray for now is good pigeons.
kirky Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 IT`S OK SAYING THE PADS HAVE GOT TO BE ON THE INSIDE OF THE LOFT BUT FOR THOSE THAT HAVE A STALL TRAP AND A T3 ON A SHELF UNDER IT WHO HAS THE ADVANTAGE COS AT THE END OF THE DAY NEITHER MAKES THE BIRDS COME HOME ANY FASTER SO THE QUICKER PEOPLE REALISE THIS THE BETTER ! ets has the advantage if birds come together, ets bird is clocked as soon as it hits the pad, ets was never ment to make birds fly faster,
Guest slugmonkey Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 I have a large opening in the side of the loft with a 3 x 3 landing board and multiple pads under it this opening is enclosed on 3 sides and the top with the opening to the loft in the back as the birds land most are clocked but they can only see out the way they came in and dont see other birds overhead this keeps them on the board and they wont fly up with birds that havent clocked yet The opening for this landing board is entirely within the perimiter of the loft and quite legal
DOVEScot Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 has anyone built there own trap for the E.T.S if so could you post some pictures on here many thanks Mark I took this pic at Blackpool, not sure if it is what you want :-/
