I would agree to a point but i only have room for 24 widowhood cocks so i need to be very selective i have won out to 500 to 600 mls so do you think i'm being to hard
Guest spin cycle Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 three years...in my short experience pigeons that are not going to make the grade generally tell you by being consistently late/next day.you swear about them as the rest are home and you are half expecting a call... even then i suppose there are exeptions.
dal2 Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 It also depends on how many the family you bring in. But its a real hard struggle to put a distance team together in a small team especially up here when youve got so many treacherous races before the doos even get to the races that they are bred for!!!
hotrod Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 How long do you give new pigeons you bring in to establish them selfs in your loft before outing if no good.it depends on wether u have an estabished team or not ,if starting out i would say 3 years for sprinters/middle but for long distance it would be 5 years . if u had a good team about u then even distance birds u would find them out in 2/3 years ,if they dont match the ones u already have get shot of them .

alex young Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 I only compete in sprint racing and introduced a new family in 2005,they won from the start. The birds will have 24 races during the young bird and yearling stage, any bird that does not have a couple of well placed fed cards has to go.
