sapper756 Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Here is an easy to answer question. If you had the money and the opportunity to go to a fancier who had won a National, and also bred the National winner. Which would you prefer; a direct youngster out of the National winner. or, a youngster out of the pair that bred to National winner?http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif and, can you explain your preference Thank You

billt Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 personally I would pick one of the parents, as they have proved they breed the goods, and just because a bird wins a National, does not necessarily mean they will breed winners. JMOYes I agree, I would like a good look at the pedigree to confirm the lines were producing consistent winners
OLDYELLOW Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 i buy both then pair them up uncles to neices aunts to nephews
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 I agree with both of you may be a racer but not a breeder!
JohnQuinn Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 I would take the racer's young bird before the parents, i figure the chances of getting a dud out the stock doos is higher than that of the racer. I am taking this at face value and there is no mention of them having bred any other winners, however the winner has all the winning genes of the parents and is more likely to pass the winning genes on, he/she is now "the tree" and i like my apples close to the tree
fletch Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 young bird of the parents every time we know they can breed them but we all had good pigeons that didnt produce anything but all had breeders tht keep breeding
Guest IB Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 I'd prefer one from the parents. They are the complete gene pool and there might be further national winners in it. The national winner is only half of that pool.
VMS Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Would prefer 1 off the national winner,if the winner was a cock would like a hen off it and vice versa.
demolition man Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 Would prefer 1 off the national winner,if the winner was a cock would like a hen off it and vice versa. I'm with you on this one i quite like grand children from them aswell
