Guest Tooshy Boy Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 IT WORKS FOR ME HAD IT 12 YEARS NOW.
JohnQuinn Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Personally i would stick to the Obvious!!
greenlands Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 IT WORKS FOR ME HAD IT 12 YEARS NOW.Same here, could even be older than yours but still doing its job.Living on a housing estate there are at least a dozen and them that come to visit. If I get to Blackpool I'll be purchasing another to point in a different direction.Good value for money,as John says there are other ways but pigeon men are the first option if anything goes wrong, even if it's the wrong option.Lindsay
Guest Owen Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 I have used an electric fencer for years. It solved the problem when I first used it and I have been free of cats ever since. Recently, I have been working around the loft and disconected the fencer. A fox appeared under the aviary trying to snatch the birds while I was there feeding them. I re-erected the fencer, end of problem. The only down side of a fence unit is the risk of children touching it. Apart from that it is the best animal fence you can get. Best of all the neighbours need never know of it's existance.
Guest richyzf Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Cheers for the replys the problems i have are i have dogs and kids take it the dazer will affect the dogs too?
greenlands Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Cheers for the replys the problems i have are i have dogs and kids take it the dazer will affect the dogs too?For some reason no,next door had two dogs and were never afraid to come to me when I called them,I would have thought if there had been a problem they would have backed away. The frequency must be set so that it's only audible to cats, however some children can hear them.I've had youngsters come to my lofts to see the birds and ask what the noise was and wouldn't stay.
geordie1234 Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 Cheers for the replys the problems i have are i have dogs and kids take it the dazer will affect the dogs too?can you not keep your dog out the back will that not keep the cats away

Guest richyzf Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 can you not keep your dog out the back will that not keep the cats away I leave the dogs out when the birds are out now but they are still a problem all the other times, BELIEVE IT or not cats are very good for keepin other cats out, Thought about getting a big tom cat and letting it grow up with the birds,,,, but I HATE CATS lol.
geordie1234 Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 I leave the dogs out when the birds are out now but they are still a problem all the other times, see my dog is out all day everyday even when the doos aren't out and ive never seen a cat since
Roland Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 You know dogs can't climb, and cats quickly learn that and take no notice. Sound waves so - so, but no good if cat is determine or deaf... Yep still to the obvious.... An electric fence. Mine runs around the top of loft and fences. A £10 battery charger is actually better as it is constance, where as a E/Fence works of loops... but still the best which ever you use. http://www.ehow.com/how_5008062_make-electric-fence-car-battery.html. But the charger has to really be the way to go I believe. You can buy one for less than a tenner.
JohnQuinn Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 I like to trap them, then i know the doos are getting rest at night. Traps for rodents/cats/foxes are set 24/7 from March to September. Though it was much easier with the Jack Russell kennelled out the back. Not got a dog this past few years so the traps are set.
Guest Owen Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 I think if I were concerned about children or even dogs where an electric fencer might be a problem I would do the same as John Quin. Traps will sort the problem out for you. The only slight consideration is the fact that if you do use traps and catch a cat or a fox you can not afford to let them go in your area. They will quickly become trap shy and you will end up with a bigger problem. I like to keep a couple of fen traps around because they are brilliant at catching feathered vermin.
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 chuck a bucket of water over them or land them in it :L

This may be the option for me as it can be put out of the kids reach and away from the dogs, also the cats know the dogs cant reach them on the loft, cheers AllRich
