Guest joshdonlan Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 i use them for water, but it goes everywhere when you fill them up. also have 1 for barley hopper feeding.
chris h Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 i use them for water and have no problems with them.havent tryed them with food.
JohnQuinn Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 I imagine you would only be able to use small seeds in them or wheat/barley as mentioned already, i would make a wooden hopper that could take any food before using a drinker. jmo
Tony C Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 does anyone use these for food for your birds pic If you put any type of mixture in one of these you'll find they'll scatter more food on the loft floor than they actually eat. Best used with single grains but still not ideal.
Brumby Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 The wate goes everywhere if you dont fit the cap on the base remove cap if using as a feeder.
ribble Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 They are good for feed and water. The ones i have, have a cap on the base that you take of for using food any grain is ok. To stop the birds sorting through the food and scattering it you can place some wire mesh in the bottom above the feed level. They can get there beak through to feed but can't flick it about.
Guest peter4pm Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 ive used them for both ...but dont think filling them full of feed is any good as it doesnt drop down out the globe uless its very small...best for water i think ,though i refill mines every day i nevver leave it for days on end ..its emptied and cleaned and filled back up....
