Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 i would mate as it helps to keep a constant temp in the loft and if you coat the insulation in fine mesh then u shouldnt have a problem with mice mine was fully insulted and never had a problem but jmo
Tony C Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 If your happy with the ventilation in your loft the way it is at the moment its best left. That ventilation can be a finicky old sod.
Guest Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 sometimes i think we mollycoddle them too much and then when we get a stiff race the birds have got no alteritave to go down and wait for a sunny day a good bird with the right constuitation wont mind the cold infact they love ithelps bring the blood temp. down and they allways look good

pigeonpete Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 I would say aslong as your loft is not draughty, and you dont want to pair up very early, i would leave as they are, Cold wont bother them 1 bit, but draughts will An lots of nice things will live in the polystyrene, just my thoughts :-)

REDCHEQHEN Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 I have insulated the internal walls between sections - but it was more for sound reduction - so the cocks couldn't hear the hens (and I used the inch thick polystyrene)

Guest Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Your quite sheltered there Andy....i thought about doing this myself but had the same worry about mice. Is Steve's insulated? Hear rumours your leaving us yes Stevies is insulated , have only beat him 3 times this year ,want to beat him more in future . regarding the leaving ?? andy.
rick Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 good ventelation is when fresh air can enter loft and the stale air can leave. ie air enters through louve at bottom of loft and and exits through gap at top of loft back and front. if u have a little gap somewhere u will usally get a drft through it. hope that makes sense
