Ian McKay Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Just heard that 40 to 100 dead pigeons have been found in Pererhead harbour and checked it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-10917436 Marlene
Guest bernard_grizzle_smith Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 were these racers or towny's?
Ian McKay Posted August 9, 2010 Author Report Posted August 9, 2010 were these racers or towny's? From the article: Senior inspector Scott Elphinstone said: "There were bags and boxes reported floating nearby which suggests the birds may have been dumped." Marlene
Daisymay Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Hope post mortem reveal doos ripped to bits/killed by BOP.Wonder what action would be taken then.
THE FIFER Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 we will just have to hope they are not race birds, a silly thing for anybody to do though
Blue Tooner Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Just had the Press & Journal on the phone asking me questions about it, he wouldn't say if they were racing pigeons or streeters. They were found on the Albert Quay at Peterhead Harbour and have been taken for post mortem examinations. Puzzled by this one. Hopefully they ar not Racing Pigeons
Ian McKay Posted August 9, 2010 Author Report Posted August 9, 2010 Apologies if these birds are not racing pigeons. I was just so shocked to hear it and read the article. Marlene

THE FIFER Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 thats no problem Marlene, would have been bad just hearing about it and not knowing anything, thanks for the info
Blue Tooner Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Are they in your boxes, We are quiet this week so they would give us a boost. I would imagine someone has been clearing a building of streeters and hopefully they are not racers
Guest IB Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Must admit to assuming these were racing pigeons from a weekend race, washed inland from the sea. Hope not.
OLDYELLOW Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 40 dead birds in the harbour seems they may have been dumped , guess if racers there rings be missing however if racers with rings on they may have been hit by a wave but in whatever case doesnt look good on fanciers be there racers or fancy birds , keep us updated
Ian McKay Posted August 9, 2010 Author Report Posted August 9, 2010 thats no problem Marlene, would have been bad just hearing about it and not knowing anything, thanks for the info Thank you Fifer!! frank-123 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 contacted the rspca today they are not sure if it was racing pigeons i said it might well be racers due to the very heavy losses at the weekend but my information was passed to the inspector dealing with the case and the girl said he will call me i will update asap
frank-123 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 update three birds were fished out for examination the rspca was not sure if they were racing pigeons but he said he would try and find out but he said there was more still in the water but it was dangerous trying to collect them
sapper756 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I would have thought it would have been easy to say if they were racers or not, by the fact that they had or did not have rings onhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif
frank-123 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I would have thought it would have been easy to say if they were racers or not, by the fact that they had or did not have rings on the guy who fished them out said he never looked as he thought they would just be wild ones

Guest IB Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 what in bags and boxes are you for real pmsl I was talking about what I thought when I saw the name of the thread. Nowhere in the news report does it say these birds were in bags or boxes. You're putting 2 + 2 together and coming up with 5, truth may be out there, but you're guaranteed to miss it every time.
