what makes the old birds motivate the young

The old birds will be a lot more sexually driven than the youngsters and will probably be split from their mates so fairly frisky  .If a few old cocks were put in with the YBs on basketting night it would stir things up a bit; they'd chase or take up the young hens, some of the young cocks would join in or get jealous etc etc.

just a wee thing to try and gain a few yards on the race day
