dicie Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Well done mate, its a tough race! What sort of distance are u flying? Think its about 479miles to me here in Banbridge. What strain is the pigeon? Funny story to this mate. He was Bred by a man from the north of Ireland, came into us early last yr, and we got him transfered. Iv yet to ever see a bird in 50 yrs of racing to recover so well after races. He won Bude 3 weeks ago, and as you know, that was a stinker, he had his bath next morning, and was chasing hens around the rooftops an hour later. He was 11th open in that race. He also flew the 2 Talbennys, i know it is only 107miles to us, where he was clocked in each of them. He also flew the penzance open, winning 7th club, after 11 hrs on the wing, again, another stinker of a race. After the penzance, he was just bouncing 2 days later, so was left ot his own devices for a few days and we talked about wether to send him or not. I came home from the clocking station and the partner was sitting in the garden said, "look, he cud be ready for the friendship national, marking on tuesday" Not sure if he will win the national or not, but i dont really care, i just wanted him home..

dicie Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Sum bird mate, look after him, there aint many like that! Iv a feeling he wont be going anywhere. I think the person that bred the bird can have a few young ones off him if he wants them, and then he will enjoy the rest of his days in luxury. He has earned his perch. Only wish out good hen wud show up 2moro now with some luck.

WOuld like to thanks all the well wishers that have contacted myself and Jim, just like to say it doesnt get any better than this. It would seem he was 30 yards pm ahead of the next bird, i knew the pigeon has been in great form for the past few weeks, this just proves that he got his small slice of luck yesterday and took advantage.
