geordie1234 Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 whats the best perches for my new young birds i have a 5x6 section for them with v perches
showman Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 Box perches. If V-perches are spaced adequately, you won't get as many in, compared to box type.
Tony C Posted June 22, 2010 Report Posted June 22, 2010 Box perches are better for novices, much easier to catch the pigeons in.

geordie1234 Posted June 22, 2010 Author Report Posted June 22, 2010 cool i made the v perches purely for quickness as the ybs were ready to collect so i can take my time and make the box perches right and just fit them in i suppose. ive still got my other section to kit out what do youz reckon i should have in there breeding boxes ????

Guest bakes Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 They look ideal mate what kind of wood is that can I buy them anywhere i picked a few compressed wood sheets up from wood yard cheap cut to size needed with electrical saw glued and screwed into place how i wonted them fixed bracket to the finished perchs and screwed to loft wall made two 20 bird box perch's and had some ply sheets spar so done an 12 bird box perch for younglad up road ply wood sheets are better in my apion to the cheaper compressed wood sheets as compressed wood you cant get wet as it will start to fall to bits but ideal in loft as it dry in there any way had them 40 bird compressed wood box perchs in yb loft now for a while still solid as kept them free from damp have easy bedding down on floor as floor litter so all i have to scrape out each day is the box perchs and wrake the floor every week to bring droppings to top scoop up and put another thin lineing down keep loft looking clean most the cleaning needed it to scrape the boxs out as most the time birds only on floor when haveing corn or haveing a drink i put corn trough and water and grit off floor on an platform i made so dont get dropping and easy bedding all mixed in together it keep trough clean only corn in trough same as water keep clean same a grit dont get all mixed up with floor bedding all the best
