DOVEScot Posted May 7, 2010 Author Report Posted May 7, 2010 i suspect the issue of 'electoral reform' in the shape of 'prop. representation' will decide that.....of course the irony would be that we would then be in this situation after every election. i support 'PR'....but there would be some 'uncomfortable side effects' There is no doubt change is coming as it always has, long gone are the days of right and left wing politics they all are fighting for the centre ground that is why they all look the same. Proportional representation will bring diversity and sadly it will let some of the loonies in like the loony and BNP parties inJMO I AGREE WITH ALL THAT
billt Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Well done you all, I wish politicians were as open minded as you are

retired Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Im still on the fence with all this - I voted yesterday but even when i was at the voting booth i really didnt know which way to go. I suppose i also had accepted that we as a county are basically conservative so no matter how i voted it really wouldnt make a difference (proven right as they won our seat by about 14,000 vote majority. Would love to see the Voting system changed to be a more fair reflection on the actual numbers who have voted for who rather than a postcode lottery as we are in.

OLDYELLOW Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 Spin Cycle; I hope yer no leaving just because of this, I have no influance whether you stay or not and if I did I would hang my head in shame for being so shallow minded if I did remove you, and anyone that capitalizing on it should hang there head in shame as wellwell said Duncan
frank-123 Posted May 7, 2010 Report Posted May 7, 2010 The bnp would have won 30 seats if we had an election with proportional representation yesterday
Roland Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Well looks like a Liberal Goverment if the two main parties want to keep it as it is. Suppose the only good thing is now hat Gordon can't take the flaf of others doing he can lie and cheat and promise 'Moon Cheese' and belittle - and sadly it will be - the Tory's as the start to line their own nests'. Of course they all do, and will. But the tory's will pick the teeth clean of the 'Working Man' and lead him as usual to the 'Valley of want'. Yep and they will have to work longer and harder for less. Ah well somethings never go away I guess.
DOVEScot Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 The bnp would have won 30 seats if we had an election with proportional representation yesterday True we should all be heard but if we stopped immigration and send all them back then what about migration and colonisation that the British have done for hundreds of years?
DOVEScot Posted May 8, 2010 Author Report Posted May 8, 2010 Well done you all, I wish politicians were as open minded as you are This is a classic case why threads should not be locked or deleted and allow us to debate things, spin cycle could have left the site and we could have become enemies, instead we found common ground and maybe gained some respect for each other. I hope admin allows this approach to continue JMO

'new labour' bailed out the banks ...but didn't stop the bonuses was this deliberate or icompetance ?. talking of which 'consultants' were employed for billions who, by their own admission, provided little or no value to the taxpayer. what happened to gordon brown's 'british jobs for british workers'? who sold our gold reserves when it was cheap to meet eu directives only to land us in debt ??
Guest spin cycle Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 True we should all be heard but if we stopped immigration and send all them back then what about migration and colonisation that the British have done for hundreds of years? quite right...but also history shows that waves of migration are nothing new but neither is the pain and conflict it brings. IMO the way to tackle the bnp is to try and address the issues that makes so many ordinary decent people feel so disenfranchised that they feel the need to support the far right. of course its difficult and thats why politicians don't want to try.

Lets hope the Tories don't get our hands on our assets as only the rich will benefit in the long run
Guest spin cycle Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Lets hope the Tories don't get our hands on our assets as only the rich will benefit in the long run what i'm trying to say is that there is a perception that 'the bosses' get rich under the tories whilst i think that under new labour ' the bureaucrats' have not only got fat but have over strained our public services and business. this is my opinion and i've said enough...so no more. i'm off to watch 'gillete soccer sunday' to see if leeds can join the canaries
Roland Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Yes very true Spin Cycle. But then the main, and all-important difference, is that the Labour party give back some to the working class. They rob pinch lie and steal! Of course they do. BUT no where as near as bad as the 'Hooray Henry’ brigade that still deem it's their' right to rule, and the peasant fodder to pay. The socialist government actually care and give the workingman a painkiller and apply some TLC. Not like the Tories that bludgeon and cut away chunks of the flesh for own ends!
