after that anything up to 45 miles per day for 3days on the trot then rest for 3days and do the next 3days at about 45 miles per day.

Then about 22 miles x 3

one or two tosses at 35 miles

They will get a 45 mile toss before the first race ( which is 55 miles )

other times they will get the 22 mile toss if its late - all training done after work in the evenings

First toss about half a mile,  then I have given them about six from about two Mls (by the Spinnaker tower ) they will have three from about ten mls, then as many as I can from 25mls. But it's all about confidence, you can't teach them to home, only to race.

Well Kev I stick to 12mls as this seems to be a good spot. It used to be 10mls, but we moved and still use the same spot. Rose that doesn't sound so different to us as 12mls 100mls 154mls 189mls and into Perth 297mls for our distance birds. (Sorry what other type are there) LOL. We were at the coast training Sunday, about 130mls. See other threads about 7 days Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

ME YOUNG BIRDS START OF WITH A 1/2 MILE OUT THE BASKET THEN GO TO 10MILES TILL THEY ARE BACK BEFOR ME THEN ON TO 20 MILES SAME AGAIN THEN THEY GO TO 26 MILES AS MANY AS I CAN GET IN TO THEM BEFOR THE FIRST RACE BUT THEY MUST TRAP WHEN THEY COME BACK AS THIS IS WHERE YOUNG BIRD RACING IS WON AND LOST THEY ALSO FLY AT NIGHT FOR 1 HOUR

i had 2 back last night and 8 back today so far, still 13 missing.the reason i trained in the evening is because i bought the book east 2 west by kevin sparkes. In there he says he trains his young birds in the evening before too many pigeons get in the sky.if they make a mistake they cannot fly themselves into exhaustion in the heat of the day and have a greater chance to correct their mistakes the following day.

Kev I would train in the evening and I go 12mls but for me anywhere Southam area works great but if I move on to Banbury it's like a black hole. Dunno if anyone else has found Bad spots to train.

That is the same method I use Kev. - I dont even let mine out in the mornings until they have been trained up to ten miles in the later evening.

Glad to hear youve got some back mate . These ones will be all the better for their experience but the clever ones are the ones that came back last night - cos they've done it on thier own.
