JADE Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 Whats the opinion of fanciers who dominate club/fed results. I see two club results posted tonight where in one a member takes the first twelve places and another where a member has nine of the first ten. Should there be a limit on the number of birds timed
schouwman71 Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 agree with you jade, why time ten in if theres only limited prizes
mark Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 if you are a novice it must be soul destroying you can only win with one so why clock so many in.? i was looking at last nights result a young girl of 17 was last take out muliple timings she would of been 8th.

Joe90 Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 some clubs you can only take the first two or 3 places but time the rest in for the fed. but if someone has all them birds before you then you need to work harder to win, some people want to win but dont want to work for it
Tony C Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 Wouldn't do it myself (only got 3 thimbles ;D) but respect anybody's right to do as they please
THE FIFER Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 THE ONLY WAY U COULD DO THIS IS TO LIMIT THE ENTRIES NOT HOW MANY BIRDS THEY TIME IN, WHO WANTS A PLACE KNOWING SOME OTHER BIRD BEAT IT
Chatrace Posted August 6, 2006 Report Posted August 6, 2006 Ya it really hurts when I send 50 birds and the one guy ships 6 and the best I do is 7th, he should have only clocked 3 so I could say I was 4th :-)
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 YOU PAY TO SEND EVERY BIRD SO YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TIME IN AS MUCH AS YOU WANT BUT WE HAD THE SAME FEELING WHEN WE STARTED BIRDS WE WERE LAST EVERY TIME AND IT DOES GET YOU DOWN BUT WE WERE DETERMINED TO TRY HARDER AND ONCE WE STARTED REALLY WORKING THE BIRDS AFTER WE FOUND OUT WHAT TO DO THE RESULTS STARTED COMING SLOWLY BUT SURELY AND NOW WE ARE A MATCH FOR ANYBODY IN THE CLUB AND EVERY YEAR NOW WE HAVE OUR FAIR SHARE OF PRIZES AND NOW WHEN WE MARK OUR BIRDS WE ASK THE OTHER MEN WHO IS GETTING SECOND TO US AND I WAS ASKED WHY I KEPT ASKING THIS WHEN SOME OF THE TIME IT NEVER HAPPENS AND THE REPLY I MADE TO THIS WAS THAT IF I THOUGHT MY BIRDS WERE NOT GOING TO WIN I WOULD NOT BE SENDING THEM BUT AS I SAID IT'S NOT ALLWAYS THE CASE BUT IT'S A GOOD WAY TO WIND THEM UP
Chris Little Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 Multiple timing is all down to greed and sheer arogance , you will find the ones that bang em in are the ones that advertise year in year out and just love spouting off their club results in the advertisements. What is to be achieved by timing in 10 / 12 birds a race , only one bird concerns me ... the winner A few years back I entered some young birds in a golden ring race , we were lucky enough to win 1st and 2nd with quite a tidy sum , there was 4 prizes for the race , we never timed our 3rd bird when it came , it could have also won a prize , when the result was being processed there was a young school lad there and you should have saw his face light up when he found out he had won the 4th prize plus some handy pocket money , had I timed our 3rd bird he wouldn't have experienced the joy of his bird winning some money. Seeing the lad so happy was priceless, moments like these stick in my mind and knocks multiple timing.
Guest Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 But at the end of the day, if doing this sort of thing is going to encourage young fanciers or even fanciers in the game to stay involved it has got to be a good thing.
ACE LOFTS Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 i personaly think there should be a 2 bird limit in a club. but allowed to bang on as many as u want for the fed result. at the end of the day the people who come last should do somthing about it. if i had 6 come together i would put all six on. what i normaly do is ones iv got my first bird i give it 3-5 min depending on race and what ever comes in that space of time it gos on the clock. im not really interested in club results just the fed.
Guest Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 in one of my clubs there is a 16 bird club limit fed birds can be sent. so the 1st 16 on the sheet can only compete for club honours.
johnny11 Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 this will continue as long as pigeon racing does, but it is destroying the sport. why do so many new clubs form nowadays. fanciers need to have a little common sense and only time in a couple. If your top flyer wins week in and week out what is a 4th place to him.... yet you might have your bread and butter fancier who may take one 4th place and this could keep him going for another season. There is no need for the fancier who clocks in only two yet could have taken 1- 5 to tell anyone he could have, it is in his own mind he knows. I cant believe the response to Chris saying he gifted the place to the lad.. He may have done but this act could keep that lad in the sport for another couple of seasons. we have to be sensible here, after all this sport is not fair at the best of times...where else does a new starter compete against the best on an even field.... Most sports have handicaps about time the pigeon game has one also. Imagine if Man Utd or Chelsea competed against the likes of Chester city or Accrington Stanley.. How long would these clubs last before they disbanded..sound familiar.. food for thought
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 A GOOD POST FROM CHRIS AND A GOOD REPLY FROM FIFER AS CHRIS SAYS IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE TO SOMEBODY YOUNG TO WIN A PRIZE BUT THEN AGAIN AS FIFER SAYS YOU ARE GIVING THEM A PRIZE THEY HAVE NOT REALLY WON.THIS SAME SITUATION HAPPENED WITH MY SON AS IT WAS HE THAT STARTED BIRDS FIRST AND WE TOOK SOME TO OUR FIRST CLUB SHOW AND SOME OF THE OLDER MEMBERS WANTED TO GIVE MY SON A RED CARD AND THEY WERE GOING TO "FIX " IT WITH THE JUDGES BUT I MADE IT PLAIN WE WERE NOT TAKING ANYTHING WE HAD NOT WON AND MY SON WAS OVER THE MOON WHEN HE DID WIN A RED CARD NOT ONE GIVEN TO HIM.THERE ARE NO YOUNG PEOPLE IN OUR CLUB "EXCEPT ME " SO THE PROBLEM DOES NOT ARISE
AlanWilkins Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 Theres one thing you havent mentioned how about the poor bloke working the results out ,birds timed in 10 mins after the first bird no pools on it n 6-7 birds inbetween first n last. Its all work for nothing n ppl wonder why you cant get secatarys
kelly tom Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 I FLEW IN A CLUB WHERE YOU WERE ONLY ALLOWED TO TIME TWO PIGEONS THE RESULTS WERE A FARCE YOU WERE THIRD AND YOU KNEW THAT THE LAD IN FIRST AND SECOND ON SOME OCCASSIONS HAD MORE BIRDS BEATING YOU THE TICET WAS WORTHLESS I PERSONALLY ONLY PUT THE FIRST TWO IN THE CLOCK BUT I DONT WANT A PRIZE THAT I NEVER EARNED
johnny11 Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 Tammy I see where your coming from and nobody would like to win a "Fixed show or race" But there is no fairness and if the "experts" would just have a little consideration and then maybe we may be able to keep some of the fringe fanciers, otherwise people will end up flying against themselves. I am of the opinion if you want to be the best you have to beat the best, but this situation is killing the sport more than the hawks etc... we are own enemies as far as this is concerned. John
Guest WINGS 04 Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 I THINK YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS IN THE CLUB THAT ARE ON THE MINE CLUB SITE AND HOW MANY BIRDS ARE SENT AS IF THE MEMBERS THAT ARE TIMING IN 8 OR MORE BIRDS COULD BE SENDING MORE THAN ALL THE ALL OTHER MEMBERS PUT TO GETHER IN OR CLUB THER ARE 5 PRIZES SO I WOULD PUT 5 IN THE CLOCK IF THEY ARE THER IN TIME BUT IF I SEE ANY OTHER BIRDS DROPING IN TO THE LOFTS THAT ARE NEAR ME I WILL ONLY PUT THE FIRST BIRDS AND A POOLER IN
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 SORRY TO UPSET A FEW BUT I THINK IT,S ALL DOWN TO WEATHER YOU WANT A POSITION THAT YOU HAVN,T WON,IF A GUY CLOCKS 20 PIGEON,S IN BEFORE ME THEN FAIR PLAY TO HIM HE,S PAYED HIS MONEY TO SEND THEM SO HE,S INTITLED TO CLOCK AS MANY AS HE WANT,S IN,AND AS CLUB SECRETARY I,M MORE THAN HAPPY TO WORK OUT THE VELOCITY OF EVERYONE.I HAVE TO SEND DETAIL,S OF THE FIRST 10 CLOCKED IN EVERY WEEK TO THE FED ANYWAY SO IF HE AS THE FIRST 10 BEST VELOCITY,S THEN THOSE ARE THE ONE,S I SEND.
schouwman71 Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 well said alan, if there are 6 positions in the club, then you should be able to time 6 in if theres 4 then time 4 in,its sill timing any more in.
stevebelbin Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 As far as Im concerned there is only one winner in a race and nobody remembers a 2nd 3rd 4th etc place.
