David Swain Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Surprised nobodies made any comment yet about the strange NFC Committee decision to switch YB National to Chale (Isle of Wight) from Sennen Cove. Can't see the point of it myself although I suppose it's more attractive to the Midlands and Northern fanciers for whom the NFC seem to be catering these days. There must be loads of staunch NFC flyers in the South who barely fly 50 miles from Chale. I know quite a few in this area (Dorset) are already planning to resign from this once great club and I wonder if many will bother to send to this one? Just one other point - it will be interesting to see what kind of race evolves when the birds have to split through 180 degrees from liberation point.
ribble Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 hi,there is a topic located in the racing pigeon forum.
David Swain Posted August 21, 2006 Author Report Posted August 21, 2006 Thanks for that ribble ! Read the other thread and most points seemed to have been covered.
Chris Little Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 You cant please everyone, either way there is going to be unhappy fanciers, you've just got to be grateful there is some form of racing this year and just get on with it
swilcox Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Sorry Chris but the first time i have to disagree. A race from Penzance would mean that 99% of pigeon fanciers could send there birds, only the cornish guys in sect D who send very low amounts of birds wouldnt be able to send. Whats more a race from the Isle of Wight wouldnt be much good for the Cornish lads either. Pigeon fanciers in the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton have been some of the most loyal the National Flying have so again they have turned there back on the Fanciers that support them every year without fail. Stuart
DRIES Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 i've ressigned from nfc in the last month and since then 18 of my club members have also resigned, think the national is finished down south , might as well change name to northern national flying club
richard Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Hey Dries for once I agree with you!!!!! :D :D
Chris Little Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 No worries Stu Even though I am a member of the NFC I am not aware of where the keen areas are with respect to loyalties and what implications the racepoints have. Quietly plotting an assault of Pau , Saintes
Matthew Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 am not a member of the NFC but surley to god resigning frm the club jus cos you cant get a bit of distance racing for this year is a bit childish.
SHAUN Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 as a nfc member sect D the reason why the birdage is low is because it is really hard flying pigeon down here, many top fanciers from up country move down to cornwall and devon and within two seasons they have moved back home not all but some. because of the lossage and the hawks, if we had the birds we would send more and the only reason why this season is the way it is because of the bird flu. and didnt we have the first old bird race this year from sennon cove already, so to fanciers who have resigned it not the national flying club fault that the defra stop racing from oversea again, and why would you send to sennon cove when it the wrong way to fly. chale is the right way to fly because you want to teach the young ones the right route to fly from oversea next year. i can remember year ago when the national would not lib the birds with east in the wind becaesue it would push the birds are end of the country .and that was no good for you boys up country. sorry but that the way it is.
DRIES Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 why go to isle of wight going to cost £1500 to fly 3 miles of water or 600yards at shortest point to main land at hurst point, why not southsea seafront .main reason i've resigned [before chale was anounced and my fellow members have resigned for same reason] is because i don't fancy paying vast increased subs next year because they won't have much money left after this season
Roland Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Could be that the Irish route would be far better. Inland to the West and fairest distance... just depends on wind on day which section... But the NFC should already have a North Road race programme set in place for next season. Never mind the con of wait and see etc. And a reduce fee too! They were and are a disgrace... Fanciers in the main just want to get a decent race and preferably a bit of distance under the birds wings, Likewise the youngsters, and if in the unlikely event Channel race is available next season then split the birds into two teams, and have North and South Roaders from under the same roof. And never mind about switching roads, it makes not a jot of difference. Birds have won so many times from North one week and south the next. Remember that RPRA meriteous award where the y/b only got place 2nd. Disgraceful...! Wins Club and Fed North Road, next Week Club and Fed South, then another win North, Place high next two weeks from North and then South,. So that is a lame crutch to say they can't. And the most of us aren't specialist flyers, or expecting to win he big one... dreams are nice... Likewise in the close season we dream and next year flies the wing and a prayer. Yes I too, like many more will, and have resigned to the fact that Channel and the NFC are only interested in certain area's and grabbing the money... £15 a win, better of playing bingo. So yes we are out next season. They are fast becoming a sad joke. Never mind about DAFRA! I bet they haven't particion, nor even wrote and put a case to them either. They even had the gall to vote in North Rd programme and behind the back shinangerings changed that. And if they were frightened to lose to the East Coast Club (
Roland Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 They have done a good job of sendng them many new flyers.
peterpau Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 Might as well race from the end of the street. As for NRCC my birds went on there transporter just once, what a shed. Never again.
mickmcgrevy Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Roland, and anyone else, not wasting my time answering you on this page, its all been said on the RACING TOPIC on the main board, but I will say its the biggest load of ill-informed cr-p I have ever read. Mick
