johno Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 is this the SHU or scotland pigeon trust event. you pointed out there was no connection in another post recently. seems as if both are one and the same. who pays for the event and collects the money. who does the accounting. on which accounts are the proceeds and costs shown oris it a secret. is this not part and parcel of the dunoon international set up and the one loft race. you stated on a post concernig shu trust yesterday that the shu and spt are not connected this current post would bring this into question. i am confused.
Guest Doostalker Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Johno, the Dunoon International Show is a run by a committee of Scotland's Pigeon Trust, although none of this committee are Trustees. I would suggest a look at the SPT website and give this quote which may help to explain:- "After the then secretary resigned, it was agreed that we should employ a Chartered Accountant to handle our finances. At the same time, it was also decided by the trustees to seperate these ventures with each group having its own committee to concentrate on their particular venture. The result is that both are quite seperate and enjoy their own autonomy." Some time ago the SHU were looking to hold a suitable event to present their prestigious annual awards and the DIS offerred them the possibility of doing so at the Gala Night. They took up the offer and have done it for a few years now. This saves the SHU from organising anything themselves. The SHU pays for the winners tickets to the event, and the winners pay everything else, such as travel and accommodation. I hope this helps. I also hope that we don't go off at a tangent but instead acknowledge how well these winners have done, which is the reason for my original post.

Willie Hay won a couple of years back, as did Scott Gibson. Don't know about the others though. Well done for young Martin Anderson. We need youngsters to come in to the sport.
