DJ Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 hi my pigeons have been treated for canker and coccidiosis and i am looking for a product that i can use to treat my pigeons for worms, i read somewhere that there is something you can buy that kills all worms and lice on pigeons but cant remember the name of it? can any fanciers help a newbie with advice? i would like something that i can add to the water if possible but dont mind using tablets or sprays if i have to? the most important thing is making sure that i give my pigeons the best treatment thanks in advance debbie
Guest Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Moxedectine you can use it when racing (sheep dip ) 10 MIL TO A 3 PINT DRINKER LEAVE FOR 24 HRS AND LIFT great stuff
jimmy white Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 ivermectin,, on prescription [from a good avian vet],, a dab on the back of the neck will do the trick ,,, ive found the best ,,,,,,for many reasons?
peterpau Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Ivermectin and Moxidectin are basically the same thing just very different methods. Whatever you can beg steel or borrow will do.
Guest Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 You get moxidectine from the vet just in rather large quanties but it would do the full club for about two years and would spread the cost (1 litre)
Guest Posted April 20, 2007 Report Posted April 20, 2007 EQVUALAN, i think thats how you spell it! Cures the neck rot, worms, lice, you name it! Comes in a brown tube, looks like toothpaste! Last time I bought a tube I had to sign for it! Its for horses, but it does the business make no mistake!

Its for horses, but it does the business make no mistake! think thats the same thing as ivermectin davey i think we have to have it prescribed here by a vet , but works great , you can get the stuff to put on the back of their neck. or the tube stuff , i find that , the tube stuff is difficult to mix with the water , i mixed it b4 in a lemonade bottle and warm water , just kept shaking it , even then it was hard to dissolve ,, but the main thing is ,,,,it works p,s its poison to hawks though?

Don't know about that Jimmy... a Game Keeper and then another flyer got me it... because he had horses... Strong Gig is the same.... works well too. Then had One Spot introduced to me, so never used Equ again... but would do without a moments hesitation. On the Canadian Threads it took some stick, but mainly because they never really had it like... but must have had the equivelant for their horses.
