Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Next weeks race for Lanarkshire from Otterburn will be the first time that we will be having pictures sent back by camera of the conditions at the liberation point. Also regarding the liberation of our birds, I have been asked to post the liberation time on the internet at least half an hour after the birds are up, members are being asked to use the lib line number if they wish to know the lib time

RIDICULOUS AND NOT WHAT THE LIBLINE IS FOR!!!!

Guest Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 Alan, think it is normal now for organisations to use Libline to get info out to members. Our Fed puts the Fed result out on it [on Mondays, I think, I don't usually need to know it ;D ] and other info included the stuff you mentioned, and when clocks would be read following an Open race. Your fed also gets money back from Libline use.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 Alan, think it is normal now for organisations to use Liblinc to get info out to members. Our Fed puts the Fed result out on it [on Mondays, I think, I don't usually need to know it ;D ] and other info included the stuff you mentioned, and when clocks would be read following an Open race. Your fed also gets money back from Libwine use. This was the reason I was asked not to post the liberation time too early as it is taking money from the fed finances, last year we drew in £600 from the lib line, but i will be posting it 30 minutes after the liberation, obviously this year I have first hand knowledge as to when the birds are going up, our fed does not post results on the lib-line as I have them on most places , so if anybody does want to know the liberation times as they happen they will obviously have to phone at the time advised in the hand book and then if they are not up they will be given a time to phone back, although there is a two hour floating time for liberation's the birds will not be going up early unless they have to for varying reasons, such as bad weather coming in or other birds which could cause serious clashing which we will be trying to prevent, well to the best we can because this will be impossible to avoid until everybody gets together over the winter and try and work something out
jimmy white Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 great idea of the video of the lib and conditiions at the race point this could actualy make some cash for the fed ,, as you will get some fanciers saving up all dvd,s of each lib. especialy if theve won the race ;D " a small donation to the fed for each dvd" ;D the lib line does make money for the fed, but i feel its too expensive

Guest Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 they are premium rates calls i think? Do the RPRA make money from them also? Think they are like 60p / min.
jimmy white Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 yes a good thing for the fed in getting £600 ,, but there are fanciers who just cant afford this , especialy , as you say , when they have to phone many times on a difficult day, or a holdover ,,,,,and the phone company makes more but i suppose its the only way at the moment ,,unless someone comes up with something differant , im sure something would be possible, as more and more fanciers are just simply saying ,,its a rip off :-/
jimmy white Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 i think all organizations which deal with ,,lib line ,, get some sort of return

PIGEON_MAN Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 How about using the method we have,as i,m secretary of the club i get a call from the federation secretary to tell me when the birds are liberated,I then phone all my club members to give them the imformation, cost to them 10p on the friday when we basket the birds.I know some clubs may have large memberships but perhaps then 2 people could ring half the members each,it only takes a few minutes to let everyone know.
frank-123 Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 how about the club buys a phone puts some credit in the thing then sends a text to every member who payed say three quid a season that would be a lot easier and cheaper than the lib line my uncle tammy always sends me the lib time only thing he has been promoted now he is at the top he is no longer intrested in the poor fanciers anymore bring back good old uncle tammy :-/

tubbles Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 Pigeon man I am in the same boat as you. I get the call from fed secretary and then phone all the lads cos i have the list of who sent to the race. It's easy and then you know that ALL the members know they are up. As for the idea of txting all members using a mobile, most of our members don't know how to use a mobile ( old codgers LOL ). I find that the lib line is expensive and when it is not updated when you are told, especially for the early short races i have to phone it about ten times. The early races that i refer to are generally east winds cold and misty so it is not clear enough for a liberation but we as secretaries have to find out to inform all the members.
frank-123 Posted April 24, 2007 Report Posted April 24, 2007 hi tubbles a text can be sent to a landline phone try it yourself send a text message to your house phone
