JADE Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 Have to agree with most posts. Birds should never have been up. The word on the street is they knew they would not get up monday and could get birds into central belt in good time and the rest would be pot luck. Lots of reports of rain all over the country. The feds up country will have to reconsider the dewcision to go with the national. Have heard of several top fliers who have never seen a feather.
ALF Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 You still got one one Alf lad and I would bet a lot of guys in your part of the world did'nt even manage that look after the sowl it might be your time in from "Rennes" next year! I HOPE SO MATE I HOPE SO ;)
square_peg Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 SENT 6 TIMED IN 2 90 AWAY IN THE CLUB 8 TIMED IN 1045 AWAY FROM MY REGION ( C ) ABOUT 150 TIMED IN BLOODY DISGRACE TO LIBERATE TODAY , :'( >
me Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 SENT 10 STILL 10 AWAY SICK SICK SICK :'( :'( :'( lets hope some of them pick themselves up tomorrow and get home weather for the north of the country a bit clearer although the wind won't help. Whatever you doo don't take it out on the birds was not a great day for them I certainly would not condemn a bird that battles back from this deserve another shot at it.
Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 heard that they could have been up yesterday at dinner time but it wasnt fair for the guy's in peterhead/frazerburgh etc but I also heard that the transporter was needed for wednesday and it would cost to much to bring them back so they deided to let them go today
frank-123 Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 i checked the weather reprt at 02.00 this morning the birds would have to go early to beat the rain looks like the rain front moved quicker than thought but still no matter what you say birds were timed into south in six hours and into edinburgh on the 7 hr mark and we have the leading birds into the west on 8 hrs with the lanarkshire fed iam sorry lots of good birds are missing but hindsight is a wonderful thing

I have said something similar on here on a few occasions and been denounced the bottom line is most guys are back at work tomorrow and the forecast is not great so what do you doo? Ain't critisicing the lads who controlled the races, don't exactly see people forming a que to have a shot at it. There are pressures that come to bear trust "me" there are pressures. Thinking of Jim and Tammy at the moment I know this will be upsetting them but at least they had a go. Today they got it wrong but it is easy to criticise, their doos were in the baskets as well.

SO DID THE NATIONAL CONTROLLERS ALL GET IT WRONG ASWELL :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/
Chris Little Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 The race controllers made a right balls up of the whole thing, I am very rarely critical of the guys who have to control races but lets face it, today was a total disaster..... pathetic > It is all very well saying, " the leading birds made it home in good home " , all very well , what about the other 99 % of the poor birds that never. I am disgusted > > rooting for all you guys that have many doos to return.....
ALF Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 ONLY 4 OF US OUT THE 6 ON OUR "BING" TIMED IN TONIGHT : :

THERE ARE ALWAS BIRDS ON THEIR TIME. ALWAS HAVE BEEN ALWAS WILL BE AND GALLANT BIRDS THEY ARE! But there was alot of birds at this race remember people were being encouraged by the premier club in the country to send their birds even if they were not members of the Scottish National Flying Club. I posted on here months ago about the dangers of this kind of race and was disparaged by several regular contributors. How many freezing cold soaking wet yearling racing pigeons are trying to work out what its all about at this precise moment? BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR YEARLINGS BIRDS THEY ARE YOU FUTURE!

If thats your opinion it proves you dont give a toss for the birds past the forth. I agree the early birds are on time and there are some outstanding birds into fife and dundee despite the weather but you have to look at the overall picture and the national birdage will suffer in future because of todays decision.
ALF Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 NAE YEARLINGS LEFT ME THATS THE PITFALLS OF RACING NOWDAYS : : : : :
Guest Greig the doo Drysdale Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 11 out of my 13 were yearlings and I got none home all i got was a 99 bird which I have now retired and put to stock

Not at all good!

Chris Little Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 The Met Office issued severe weather warnings on Friday for the next 2 / 3 days. Check out www.metoffice.org.uk
square_peg Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 NOBODY WANTS A " HANGING " BUT IT SEEMS LIKE OTHER FACTORS DICTATED THE LIB TODAY, IE: NEEDING CRATES/TRANSPORTERS ETC FOR ALENCON NOW THE WEATHER IS CHANGING FOR THE BETTER ON TUESDAY MAYBE WE SHOULD HAVE HELD! WE IN FIFE VOTED TO GO WITH THE SNFC PURELY ON A FINANCIAL MOVE,TO SAVE MONEY,BUT THESE FIRST 2 RACES,NEWBURY AND MAIDSTONE WILL COST US PLENTY OF DOO'S . MANY YEARS AGO WE HAD AN 8 DAY HOLDOVER FROM SARTILLY OR AVRANCHES WITH THE SNFC AND GOT A GOOD RACE WITH GOOD RETURNS. HOPEFULLY THE TRUTH WILL OUT BECAUSE WE CANT KEEP GETTING IT WRONG LIKE THIS
me Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 SO DID THE NATIONAL CONTROLLERS ALL GET IT WRONG ASWELL :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/ Yes they certainly did Alf but we are human and pressue gets to us all I know it used to get to "me" it is not an easy job and certain "people" will be trying to suggest the birds should fly because tomorrow they can't time in because people are on a "double shift" etc etc. IT IS NOT EASY. TRUST "ME"
frank-123 Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 Not picking on you particularly Bart lad honestly but lets get it right the general weather forecast was to say the least not at all good. Not at all good! your right me im not as old as you but why do fanciers wait until its a bad race why not shout about the liberation this morning only seen one post saying it was a poor choice to let them go thats all im saying so leading birds make it up the road that tells me the weather closed in very quickly stopping the one's behind from getting through someone in cumbria posted at lunch time hundreds of birds landing on roofs due to poor weather that had moved into that area can a controller be held accountable for that a weather front that moves quicker than the weathermen have said

HOPEFULLY THE TRUTH WILL OUT BECAUSE WE CANT KEEP GETTING IT WRONG LIKE THIS I know the race you mean Peggy lad had a few right crackers that day myself but I had about 14 away and how many ordinary guys send 14 doos to France and time a right few in and get most back these days? There is an old saying Peggy lad spend tuppence halfpenny and you will get a tuppence hallfpenny job! Bottom line is you organisation voted to SAVE MONEY. Not to think of you birds first and foremost! But to save money! Sometimes you get away with it sometimes you don't!! Said it before on here and I will say it again look after your yearling pigeons they will make your reputation!!

"me" my birds were in the "hut" the weather forecast was terrible!!
