Guest bristolkev Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 i would like to hear your views as i have never bought birds from them, always told to stay away.
swilcox Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 There great grand children of anything that has seen a basket!!!! But then again you may be lucky!!!! Stuart
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 People on the forum have had success with youngsters off them, but personally I wouldn,t buy birds from them for stock, after all who in thier right mind would sell pigeons that are breeding winners, unless they were packing up.I wouldn,t be concerned about how close they were to the originals, after all you want to breed winners off them not have them just because they are a son or daughter of some big winner.Well thats how i look at it.
Guest Paulo Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 look in the homing world and go to the top flyer in your local area that is winning well and buy a round of latebreds off him or her and bred off them. Failing this buy youngsters off top men next year
thunderboult Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 hey guys i bought 2 this week and i'm very happy with them and they'll breed the goods i've had a lot of success with breeders from louella, not much joy with the one's i've bought for racing(1 good 1) but the 1's i've bought for breeding are producing some very tidy birds
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Sounds good paul but is he going to give you birds off his pigeons that are breeding winners or off birds that breed pigeons that inturn breed winners somehow i wouldn,t think so.
thunderboult Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 hey pigeon man they are a breeding stud they don't race the birds ,if the birds they send out are so crap how come they have stayed in buisness for so long.....get real man i've bred loads of winners and multiple prize winners out of louella stock and not only for myself, i'll give you a couple of examples 1 of my hens finished 14th open last year at europa a full sister is currently 5th in the ace bird series after 3 races(she picked up £458 in pools this week) both parents from louella no pedigree sirex dbl great grd dtr of inv. spirit ,i also had a hen from palamos this year sire louella jan arden,i only started in 2004 first yb race 1st+2nd club3rd+8th fed dam of both birds from louella,i also got a cock who scored in 4 nationals last year both parents from a kit of louella racers, i could go on forever but i'll leave to those few for now
Wiley Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 thunderbolt think you got confused pigeon-man was talking to paulo :-/
Guest Paulo Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Sounds good paul but is he going to give you birds off his pigeons that are breeding winners or off birds that breed pigeons that inturn breed winners somehow i wouldn,t think so. You would be surprised most people can't be bothered with late breds I would agree that you that most people won't breed you the best off their first and second round of youngsters because they need them to race. Late breds are a different kettle of fish through. Just pick someone who you aren't in direct competion with. I'd rather have them off people who are racing rather than Louella
Guest Paulo Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Most flyers will chuck you some free eggs when you go to buy as a novice and you will be surprised at what you hatch out sometimes. When I brought my birds this year I was given some eggs and have hatched some cracking YB's out
thunderboult Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 hey wiley my reply was to pigeon mans first post on this thread not the one he sent to paulo me thinks it's you who's confused
leighton1984 Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 HI i do think they have some very good birds but if you want the best you have to pay big money . They are alot of good birds that have come out of the kits that louella have bred . The best birds are all ways closer to the champions . And alot of its down to the flyer. ;D
thunderboult Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 there we are leighton you've hit the nail on the head
mac1 Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 i buy them every year and im happy with them
leighton1984 Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 They is a lot of lads in my club that have had louella kits . The best to do is get some when they bring in a new family as they do not know what is breeding the goods . They only know when they get reports of winners . ;D
rlez Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 hi louis was a top racer before he decided to go into breeding always in the results from the distance les
PIGEON_MAN Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 hey pigeon man they are a breeding stud they don't race the birds ,if the birds they send out are so crap how come they have stayed in buisness for so long.....get real man i've bred loads of winners and multiple prize winners out of louella stock and not only for myself, i'll give you a couple of examples 1 of my hens finished 14th open last year at europa a full sister is currently 5th in the ace bird series after 3 races(she picked up £458 in pools this week) both parents from louella no pedigree sirex dbl great grd dtr of inv. spirit ,i also had a hen from palamos this year sire louella jan arden,i only started in 2004 first yb race 1st+2nd club3rd+8th fed dam of both birds from louella,i also got a cock who scored in 4 nationals last year both parents from a kit of louella racers, i could go on forever but i'll leave to those few for now You dont have to tell me mate that they dont race birds anymore when i was born they did,All i can say is congratulations to you on your performances there is no denying that the birds you have had from them have done you proud but i know of loads that have spent thousands there and done no good at all. When you think of the many thousands they must breed there there is bound to be some that are going to be lucky and get good birds but i would bet that the percentage of winners is low compared to the losers. As for being in business for so long i think even they would agree that they are nowhere near the size they were years ago.
Roland Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 Pigeon man ... they are still the best producing 'TOP Winners' to - day. Never mind about %, way over 90% of the total of all the other Merchants sellers are duds, and crap too. That is pigeons, and the Man that flies them, and their set up, locations also bear a part. Bet thoses that you say do no god with then, the majority didn't, don't, or wouldn't with any other persons birds either.
thunderboult Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 hi pigeon man i'd agree with you that there is prob. thousands that are no good and the ones i've bought myself for racing have been terrible to put it mildly but the birds i buy for breeding i cross and the 10 birds in my stock loft from louella have all bred winners or prize winners crossed with local performance pigeons
deanbruton Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 we have bought £360 for 6 yb's with good results, £99 for 6 not very good, have also bought sons and daughters of champions with similar results some good some bad, which you get with all pigeons where ever you buy them from.
ken Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 bought 12 ybirds of them lost the lot 05 and 06
pender Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 there the best buy in the pigeon game, as far as studs and comercial side of the sport goes, for the price they ask you wont get much better, and these were the people who put fair in to the auction market
Guest Posted August 13, 2007 Report Posted August 13, 2007 If you want some half decent pigeons you would be far better off both results wise and money wise just contacting some of the genuine fanciers on here who are on the results sheet consistently.
Dave A Posted August 14, 2007 Report Posted August 14, 2007 they are always buying top pigeons in i know of 1 that won the nrcc (lerwick i think this year )race it was bred by loella and they have bopught it back for hell of a lot more then it was origionally purchased for, htink it was bought in a kit of 6
