Guest TAMMY_1 Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 How do you generally pass the time around your lofts once racing is finished ?
thunderboult Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 this year i've got a few jobs around the loft to do , i've got to take 1 section off the old bird shed were i've had 1st round yb's and remove a small shed were i've had the 2nd round and build a new shed for yb's as it's to much trouble on race day's going after birds in 2 sheds
Ronnie Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 Ive got to build a new shed for next season.Hoping to race on roundabout to double my team also going to split the current loft into two sections so i can seperate youngbirds next year and race them on the widowhood.
Guest Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 Time to make a start on all the things that need doing before winter sets in - I've a couple of small fences in the back garden that I want to change and coat with preservative rather than paint as my birds are eating the paint flakes from them and I don't like that; I've to repoint a breather mortar joint in a brick wall on the loft that is letting in rain water - never done that type of work before so a bit nervous of it, and the big job is to cut holes in brick walls to put more ventilators in - never worked with brick before either and I am even even more nervous of tackling that job.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 generally prepare for the next one , know birds are a 365 days a year job but it is good to get a break from the pressures of racing them
Wiley Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 preparing for the next season has nothing to do with pressure, quiet relaxing actually cold winter nights looking through pedigree's analysing pigeons, to sort out your breeding. Loft alterations, no fixed routines or set times to follow. Pressure i call this time of year relaxing!
Mark Bulled Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 1. Save some money to pay for next season 2. Socialise with non fanciers 3. Walk around without my head in the sky and feathers in my hair 4. Stop looking at every weather forecast 5. Stop looking at my watch 6. Do some work at work 7. Only see my pigeons in the dark (apart from weekends) 7. Play football on saturdays

paddymac Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 I'm looking to recruit someone to take over the secretary's post as I will be standing down next year. I have struggled this year through work commitments and I know that I will not be able to give it 100%.
Beanz Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 Have a rest and just do the basics to make sure the birds are healthy and refresh myself for next year.
pigeonscout Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 The day after your last race is the first day of the new season.
