the goverment are thinking of taxing pigeons club sheds...where u keep ur baskets,as pigeon racing is not a sport(according to them)then u dont get the 80% tax relief plus the other 20% relief from ur local council...a disgraceful act to bring into force.

Is there someting else that has a loophole for tax. registered charity - non profit making organisation. Start an arm wrestling club in the sheds and offer the pigeon club free use of it, tell everybody baskets are training aids;) Hold an arm wrestling competition every year to raise funds :D :D :D

Start a football team, say they are kit baskets :D :D :D

Just another set of suits with time on their hands, suit them better to get stuck into something more important. Pigeon fanciers give aways thousands to charity every year(and save the government) and what do the get,a kick in the Bo--ocks (sorry ladies) If we used all the monies we give out,for our own use there would be a "wailing" and a lot of unhappy people and maybe the collective force could do something for us for a change, not that I begrudge any of the charities that benefit

I posted elsewhere on a Confederation initiative which means we are now part of a British Union of sporting & recreation bodies. Seems membership couldn't have come at a better time  ;)

BHW Nov 16th, pp54/55 'Membership of CCPR':

"The Central Council for Physical Recreation aims to influence Government and politicians by [a] recommending legislative issues on issues affecting sport & recreation by submitting views on any relevant item of legislation at all stages of progress thro Parliament - from consultation to enactment [c] by providing briefings to MPs and Ministers on a wide variety of sports-related issues."

"CCPR has become an effective advocate of Sport in both Houses. It seeks to develop effective relations with both Houses, as well as European Parliament. There is no legal basis for sport in Treaty of Rome and therefore sport has no official standing when it is discussed in European Parliament. CCPR was instrumental in setting up the  European Parliament  Sports Inter Group which provides a forum of MEPs and their assistants to come together and discuss matters of sport & recreation across Europe. The objective is to raise the profile of sport within the European Parliament and ensure it has equal status with culture and the media."
