REDCHEQHEN Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 No you're not - but I would rather leave positive comments than negative ones I personally think you're lucky to have the cards you've got But the best flyer in my club also works and has no help - and has a lot more firsts than you - I just don't know how he does it The majority of members in my club do not work
tommy d Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 a friend of mine used too let his pigeons out 12hours apart[6am then 6pm] he was always in the the top 4 of the fed,

Roland Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 Finding a 'System' sweet and simple that suits you, and allowing the birds to adapt. Sure some won't and will decide to A. not home quickly, or B. just bugger off. But many will adpt, and then their off spring will and the results will follow. Birds most above all be contented... nothing can or will be achieved till this is achieved.
p charlton Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 its better to work i find when at home your messing around the lofts but at least when at work the cocks get to rest all day.
Guest spin cycle Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 i think thats pretty good and you should be proud.do you race every week? how many members send? exerciseing the birds must be tricky as you've only got the evening for a good part of the season. how do you train?
ribble Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 The only disadvantage you have to any one else working or not, is you don't drive. Not that i think you need a lot of training but it is better if you can train when you want before old bird season and get youngsters going.

Guest spin cycle Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 sorry ed my last post was just a big '?' what i meant was if you are in a large club the cards have more value particularly if you missed the odd race. your fed birdage is about double ours. the important thing is to enjoy your hobby ,if you aren't then perhaps consider specialising ( distance or,dare i say it, yb's)
Merlin Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 All things considered, and my opinion is you are doing well enough, really its a question you yourself can only answer, are YOU satisfied, can YOU do better, are YOU enjoying YOUR birds, keeping and racing is hardly the same for any two fanciers, likewise time available, and you have got to cut your cloth according to your measurements,so hopefully you are enjoying them, regardless of time input.
edthekid Posted February 5, 2008 Author Report Posted February 5, 2008 club has between 15-20 members a week sending 180-280 birds a week training is the hardest part..depending on other members to help you train birds...and not being there on there return...bad habbits increase ...this season going to install wireless cctv cameras in around loft and record trainning arivals cheerrs
Guest IB Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Some work routines are difficult, but at least yours is fixed and regular. You could maybe take the cocks away with you in the mornings and give the hens a short spin in the evenings, a couple of days in the week? Need to have someone see them safely in the loft in your absence tho. My own problem looks like marking night when I get home 5.30pm and birds go away between 6pm and 7pm. No time to prepare the birds. Answer seems to be to alter my working hours over 4 1/2 days, to finish 12pm Friday.
THE FIFER Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 I had more routine when i worked, but now retired u keep saying i'll do that 2 moro etc,
Lennut Tar Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 I had more routine when i worked, but now retired u keep saying i'll do that 2 moro etc, ;D ;D ;D What you say is 100% correct :D "But Then" We will always have something to do. Won't we ?????? ;) :P . Enjoy.
