The problem with suppliers from England is they send out on artics or the lager lorries and on pallets, if you do not have a pallet handling device then depending on the courier you have to off load by hand. Plus how close can the courier get to where you are going to store it. How far do you want to lug 40 x 25kg or 50 x 20 kg bags per tonne maybe in the pouring rain :-/

Easiest option is if you stay on a main road and have a smooth driveway with very little or no slope right into an out building, then a you could invest in a pallet truck, also a very flexible time scale to receive deliveries :-/

Trust me I have been there :)

there is a big supplier in Galston who deliver most places in Scotland and charge very little delivery depending on the amount you buy, they will make up any mix you want plus they supply most other things needed, they even carry and stack it for you .very good prices as well.

fellow fanciers i read with interest your comment on the price of pigeon food , in 1990-91-92-3-4my wifes business was selling pigeon food at the same price as you are paying now someone commented about it just the other day  and the corn was DUTCHMASTER it was beautiful corn and sold really well  now the price of the corn retailed at the prices your quoting now its never went up in 14 years i don,t know what your all shouting about , the price for has your wages increased in 14 years ,i think so and your always on about getting a rise in wages so what really is your beef , like it or lump it you will hike around looking for the cheapest and find you have raked up a fare bit of milage doing so and a lot of petrol or diesel

I was up for feeding today 4 bags of barley and 2 bags of wheat for my mate Malky down in Arrochar and it was £28

Hi Alf.

Where do you buy the barley/wheat. Up here the last time I bought a bag it was £8, I was actually as cheaper to get depurative.

Well i would be very happy to get pigeon food for the prices many of you are complaining about, here we have to pay £16-£20 per 25 kg bags and we have only one brand and three different mixes to choose from, but we try to make the best of it.

Who knows what we will have to pay for a bag once the raises hit us here.
