But ETS has been advetised for years without approval so that doesn't mean they are!

I think they are a great improvement as long as they can not fall off!

Looking forward to Tuesday, at least the weather looks good.

good rings, but will the unions not miss out on ring sales now. if the clock dealers are now selling them,

The WHPU have lifted the restriction on ring purchases and we can buy direct from manufacturers of approved systems.

Maybe so !!!!!! but if the union makes them pay a registration fee for each ring before they can race them etc, I would imagine they would be no worse off in the end.

Enjoy.

I think the future will see  metal rings with built in  E.T.S chips

AGREED AND WHY ARE THESE NEW CLIP RINGS THAT ARE OBVIOUSLY SMALLER NOT ANY CHEAPER????

Posted

alf  have been told the cost of the ring is the chip,, the plastic that holds it cost nothing,, so the same chip is used so same price,,

Bricon are leading the way in ETS,,,

goodluck all racing today

I believe that a ring with the  info of an everyday ring issued by unions and put on birds as youngsters, will soon carry a chip. So only one ring, that stays with the bird the rest of it,s life. I heard that these were being tested this year, where I am not sure, so these would be issued by the unions, obviously at a higher price than todays registration ring, but no need to purchase the extra ETS ring. Certainly the way ahead I believe ;)

Sapper, i understand all unions have been supplied samples of life rings with built in chips.

It will make life easier but will the cost then be reduced?

If we are paying 26p approx per union ring and £1.10 per ETS ring a combined ring should cost arround 75p due to increased production of chips should reduce costs!

Who wants to bet the cost won't come down?

I agree. 1 ring that does everything, less jewelry for the bird to carry. The owners club and union registration / loft number are also always with the bird, so maybe help sharpen up stray reporting arrangements too.

Some time back there was a picture of the said ring on the forum, the ring would be sold without the chip in for people who didn,t use ETS,the chip would be purchased seperate and clipped in the hole on the side of the ring, perhaps someone can find the picture.
