sapper756 Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 my club after the fourth time of trying for a lottery grant have been awarded £9500 for ets great news ;D ;D Excellent, you will notice a BIG difference, we have never looked back since getting ours through the lottery
Guest Vic Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Thanks to some of the Scotitsh guys, I tried to introduce the same scheme through the club I was competing with at the time, some twelve months since. It was recieved with somewhat contempt, and the same club will not accept the ETS presently. They will all have to pay (individually) for the system at the end of the day. These are the guys that cant see further than the end of their lofts. or their knobs. The Fazackerley SHS is the club in question.
sapper756 Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 We also had members who were strongly against it to begin with, now when I talk to them, they say they would never go back to conventional clocks. Some folk just don,t like change :-/ until they experience it
jimmy white Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 my club after the fourth time of trying for a lottery grant have been awarded £9500 for ets great news ;D ;D excellent news

THE FIFER Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 WEll done, it is the clock of the future, once you get the experience you will never go back,
Guest Vic Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 The assosiating Wednesday club, using the same HQ. are still anti ets. and the secretary has made it clear. IF ETS COMES HE GOES! YET THIS GUY IS THE SECRETARY OF THE RPRA WESTERN CENTRE. I have perhaps, spoken out of turn, as always, but have NEVER EVER joined any wink wink club. Maybe only a Yelow, possibly a Red! (always)
mac1 Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 my club have recently got a grant too,not really fussed about ets
Guest IB Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Well done. Motto 'if at first you don't succeed ....' seems to have worked. I've advocated from the very beginning for Grants for ETS for fitting out the club. Individual members then have an option 'yes or no' on using it, rather than being denied using it due to not being able to afford it - its certainly not cheap. I also agree that once you have used it you will never revert back. Marking night is an absolute dream, and race day at the loft is a much more relaxed atmosphere - for fancier and pigeon.
Guest neil Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Well done Ferry, best of luck with it. Our club also had a grant for £5000 and all members has a system which is fair but week one i was the only one using it,week two there was 2 of us -minor glich meant no.2 went back to his t3 and week three myself and three others leaving seven still to get going including no2 who will use it when he regains his confidence, the ones who have not tried it yet are looking to get the 2 nationals out of the way and 4 are definately going to use it What it all boils down to is confidence but once they get that there will be no going back(after 40+ years of chasing birds to get the rubber i will never go back, and you can see the confidence in the birds on return that is amazing, not one sitting out). As for the sec. not wanting it leads me to think he has never seen a club marking/reading using it,we basketed 90 birds for 4 members at an average of 10 secs a bird and that was taking our time and whats more members who normaly watch procedings were acting as sec when his birds went through and clock reading all 4 clocks were printed off in 2-3 minutes. If i have one word of warning,be prepared to do plenty of house calls,i have been like a sky dish installer without any rewards but if an error occurs it will always be your fault. Many have said before me that it the best thing to happen in our sport and i must agree with that sentiment
Guest Vic Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 The area I live in, is notorious for kids defying the law,. Even if we only rescued a dozen or so, from their bleak future , it would be an accomplishment, for each and every one of us. I talk fom within the area, the young Evertonian was shot! How can we not through plight, make everything right?
frank-123 Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 my club is in the process of trying for the second time so well done ferry
pjc Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 I've submitted our claim, had a letter back with a couple of questions but now waiting for the answer. All clubs should apply, well maybe after we've had ours! Phil
Guest spin cycle Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 where is your club ferry? when i joined my club in 2005 a lotto grant was disscused at the time as i'd had experience fo my local village hall...but i couldn't see how any club with a radius could qualify as you would fail the 'inclusion' criteria. recently (monthes) it was in the bhw that lotto grants weren't being given to rpra clubs because of the'propose/second' rule for membership.....has this changed?

DOVEScot Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 Well done Ferry, do you know what system you are going for
Guest spin cycle Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 you are better to have and use your own club rules, don't think we can as membership rules are part of the rpra 'compulsory' rules. so even if we got rid of radius the propose/second rule would still prevent us qualifying.

Brilliant their old fellow ;D ;D ;D I just love it ;) Nothing like a good compliment etc, to cement a long term relationship :) . Enjoy.
Novice Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 I agree that if this cash is available we should capitilise on it. However I feel that Federations and not clubs should have been applying for this cash. Federations could then use the grants to purchase State of the Art transportation thereby giving the welfare of the birds priority. This would benefit both the pigeons and the image of the sport.
Guest shadow Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Our club tried but got knocked back because we did not have a constitution written in to the rules and had no program to benifit local charities the sc . never tried again
ferry1 Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 all the hard work was done by andy curtis our club sec
