Tenny Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Whats the longest time passed where a bird has returned home out of the blue? Interesting in hearing some remarkable stories of birds that have returned home 2,3 or more years later?
REDCHEQHEN Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 I've plenty of birds missing that I'd like back - but none missing a great length of time that have returned 2 months for one in 2005 - a yearling then - which we still race now

Lennut Tar Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Whats the longest time passed where a bird has returned home out of the blue? Interesting in hearing some remarkable stories of birds that have returned home 2,3 or more years later? If my memory is correct ????????? ;D ;D ;D I seem to remember somehow on the internet etc, one bird turning up after 10 or 11 years after being lost in a race, & strange but true ;) it was a local from just down the road !!!!!!!!!! sort of. rednyellow Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 had a really strange one this year, due to work my dad gets the birds ready on a friday most weeks ,this particular weeks race was from 130mls approx i had said to my dad that 8 birds from section A were racing this was easy as their are only 8 racers in sec A,meets up with dad at doo club birds already marked, birds up sat morning good race, third bird arrives and traps quickly, after a wee think couldnt work out what doo it was on entering loft found bird su03 still baffled checked race book bird definately ours and at race, checking back further the bird was lost from leicester 2004 and was that weeks pooler!!!. the doo had come home after being lost for 4 years on the friday and was sent to the race being third home (we won the race) she then flew the next 3 races and was stopped, hopefully after a good moult she will be ready for next years national at 6yrs old, nothing stranger than doos.!!!!! :) :)

Guest surfer Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 I had one back this year after four years, lost as a baby off the loft. It has been living rough, I think on a farm about two miles from me there has been a lot of renevation going on, there was quite a few pigeons living in the barns, this one could have had enough and decided to come home. Surfer.
john@formula 1 lofts Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 when i flew with my Mum & Dad we had one come back after 9 years she was lost from the loft first time out as a baby. we found out after checking back on our records. when she came back she was in top condition and had been kept in a stock loft i would imagine. so we gave here a chance at stock and here 1st y/b won it's first race.
