Guest spin cycle Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 i'm not a fan of 1 lofters...but i wouldn't deny those that are their sport. if i did enter a 1 loft it would be the europa because (up until now) they seem to be the best. but this along with the rpra 70% losses you have to start wondering. the 'future of the sport com.' only seems concerned about 1 lofters. there seems to be some different views post wise on the lib conditions. i'm just sorry for the birds....poor b*stards.(dissappointed)(what)
andy Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 I am not sticking up here for Nicholson in any way but surely a race of this calibre should have a race control team, for the amount of money that has been spent organising this race it should be all team work and not down tio just one man. I was at the liberation today, the birds were in excellent condition and cleared the liberation site in no time at all. The birds maybe cleared the transporter but they were flying up and down from Livingston to Edinburgh in batches of a couple of hundred.
retired Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 iam very surprised that no one has mentioned the real reason for liberation that is a thousand people at the loft full of drink now i wouldnt like to be the person to go tell them there wont be a race to-day would you I mentioned this in a pm at about 1pm today there was no way them pigeons were not being liberated today.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Yes Jimmy you are right about this, it is about the Europa race and not a problem/person that currently blight's the sport in Scotland. Cheers Gareth im not at all clear what you mean here grass cutter :-/ :-/ i cant see him mention "controversy surrounding pigeon racing in scotland" or any other controversy in gareths post ,,above :-/ :-/ :-/ this is a thread on the europa one loft race only
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 The birds maybe cleared the transporter but they were flying up and down from Livingston to Edinburgh in batches of a couple of hundred. Andy how did the Pentland hills look today i know that through in the west the clouds were very low down on the hills.

andy Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 Andy how did the Pentland hills look today i know that through in the west the clouds were very low down on the hills. Gareth, Im 2 miles from the Pentlands and they didnt clear until 4pm tonight, and it started raining here at that time, maybe explains why Ive got 2 europa birds at my loft.
Guest Posted September 7, 2008 Report Posted September 7, 2008 i love the 1 loft races and enter as many as pos. but i think that derek and some other 1 loft race teams put unnecessary pressure on them self with having the presentation the same night as the race whats wrong with having this years race presentation next year and so on then if the weather is not right the birds can be held up untill it is good after all the people who send to thease races do it year in year out and they are not depending on thease birds to build a team for next year some may not like that but they are there for 1 reason that final race thats the way i look at it iam sure that derek and co. are more sick at this than anybody but its 1 hell of a decision to make either way
