hotrod Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 i do ok with the welsh birds ...lol lol lol lol ive had some good scottish birds too...if my memory serves me right i had a bird off an eddie clark...anyone know of him? also had a small bricoix hen..she scored out of bonn for me 3-times in 5 years...always home on the day and a reliable bird..she came in as a stray and transffered....one of the best hens ive owned. its strange strapper that with all the best pedigree,s out that sometimes a wee stray comes out of nowhere and ends up the best birds people have had ,its always intrigued me.

I think it's because that bird has found a loft it is really happy in. If it were not happy then it would have moved on.

VERY TRUE robert happyness is half way to winning ,but even these strays are sometimes bred from nothing and still become great doo,s so it makes a lot of sence that happyness is a major factor in winning
hotrod Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 no it was david who bought her djk has it bred good birds/to score at the distance?

W.D. Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 remember going to a sale in Fife years ago with my dad, think the man's name was McKinnon and he had done well with some welsh bloodlines,Morgan & Cook's Iron man lines, mainly in the nats. There's a guy in lanarkshire had some Wilf Reed birds and these have done well for him and his mates. We got some welsh birds from a guy near Glasgow who was selling up these were Alec Keevils mainly, and old westcotts among others, one of these birds bred us a small line of birds to do well for quite a no. of years esp when it was a sticky race.So I would say Yes they can do well in Scotland.
