walterbmasson Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 thunderbolt lerwick i would also say a large amount of lerwick birds doesnt look at crossing over the sea in southerlys up the orkney coast but orchard queen...and orchard pride was 2 fantastic pigeons .
Blue Chequer Pied Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 I`m pretty sure thunderbolt got the right idea about scotch birds, this hype started when everyone and their grandmother were trying to sell kirkpatricks late 60,s early seventies, obvious some good birds, but very overated none the less ,funny how those jocks think the griz modifier belonges to them, many had a.r.hills griz blood in,opposite end from you lot,and more east to west flying like berlin club. The big problem i have with prizes from lerwick, mostly, theoverated NRCC,is very short flying for a Kings cup, most winners get hype for what is really most cases less than 500 miles, like bristow this year,,to be sure, topclass fancier, butwould have problems flying that typeof bird and system 100miles further. and thunderbolt,i wouldnot waste your valuble time on that hotrod,he really thinks 560 on the day is the be all and endall of racing,no wonder the scots have gone backwards. No need to use derogatory terms like 'jocks' to get your point across some of us Scotsmen take exception to this kind of rubbish Paul.
jock3 Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 asha dont judge all scots the same . asha what have you win with the BIRDS
hotrod Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 no long distance racing is easy, only a fool would think that. i probaly got a bit carried away after listening to a few scots say they had the toughest route. i know it's just as bad down here were i live for hawks and what av you, so i was sticking up for my part of the world which vary rarely get's a mention but is a very hard place to compete against the english. there is only one place i would'nt like to race birds into worse than were i fly is wales
hotrod Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 asha dont judge all scots the same . asha what have you win with the BIRDS i think he's won 1st nom timed in on day from 60 mlies lol, oh! and a raffle prize at the dance
thunderboult Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 anything over 500 mls on the day would be the holy grail to me.
Guest asha Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Gd,so what your saying is the winner of a 25,000 uncombine race from 200 mile race to a small area corridor flying is superior than aB BarcelonaClub winner from 550 birds,aBICCBarcelona winner from 85 birds,or aBICC MARSEILLEwinner from25 birds, when the breaking front is400 miles wide
hotrod Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 anything over 500 mls on the day would be the holy grail to me. listen pal everbody thinks he's in a worst location than anybody else , most of them that complain could'nt fly a kite , as far as im concerned you fly were you fly just get on with it an try as hard as you can to win,
Guest asha Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 560miles on the day is the holy grail ;D ;D ;D ;D you got to be having a laugh with that statment.
gd Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Gd,so what your saying is the winner of a 25,000 uncombine race from 200 mile race to a small area corridor flying is superior than aB BarcelonaClub winner from 550 birds,aBICCBarcelona winner from 85 birds,or aBICC MARSEILLEwinner from25 birds, when the breaking front is400 miles wide no Asha I didn't say that - you interpreted it as that :-)
thunderboult Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 listen pal everbody thinks he's in a worst location than anybody else , most of them that complain could'nt fly a kite , as far as im concerned you fly were you fly just get on with it an try as hard as you can to win, hi hotrod, i did'nt mean that because of were i live it's because i'm only just getting the long distance racing(i've only sent to 3 races over 420 mls) and to get a bird on the day from 500 mls would be another step towards my goal.if i was worried about were i live i don't think i'd be entering birds into the bbc or nfc races .
Guest asha Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 How come someone has taken my posts off,its only a bit of fun,you spoil it evertime we have a bit of crac. :-/ :P

Fair Play Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 When Asha has his lobotomy how will it affect his postings or will he fly better :-/ :-/ :-/
ribble Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 if you were looking for distance pigeons to fly 500 miles plus races were what would you go for old british or continental birds It don't matter where you go for them or how much you spend. Send them and you will then have the answer, and more importantly enjoy it. Good luck!!
Guest Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 What about the birds that are liberated in Lerwick? Where do they stand? For me the toughest route of the lot doen to Plymouth. Not flown anymore but to get them to Bridgwater tough pigeons, headwind all the way, a few hawks in Scotland ;D, and a couple of hundred mile of water normally before they hit the mainland. The toughest route of them all which I don't think is flown anymore? must have been from strasbourg east west at 600 mile. The type of bird and management developed will suit where we live. Some areas will require tougher hard pigeons than others, some will need pigeons with great homing ability, Asha mentioned the 400 mile front. Well I'll put that on a par with the smaller Scots National club, with small birdage flying. 600 mile, there's no drag, you need top pigeons, suited to fly to that region, but they may be different type to the one flying in to Cornwall at 600 mile, the cornish pigeon in normal NFC racing will more often than not fly 520/530 mile to come in to England around Weymouth - Isle of wight and then dog leg back another 170/200 mile! But regardless of area it's tough to be top dog and if you are top dog in your area I take my hat off to you; and to Thunderbolt keep your strong mind and opinions, nothing wrong with it, and I reckon you may well end up top dog in your area, like Hotrod is and like what I'm hoping to become at the distance.
Fair Play Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Due to the number of entries in the SNRPC Reims race Hotrods bird would have virtually flown single up (590miles)and to cap it all into the West as well
ellsie06 Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 MY BIRDS FLY TARBES FOR ME IVE ONLY TRYED IT TWICE I TIMED IN ON THE DAY TWICE WITH TWO IN FIVE MIN
