retired Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Thats Harsh, Doo - Think all of us who dont have it probaly take it for granted. My own personal worst thing nowdays is all the extra health issues we have to be careful for, when i started it was basically coxi, canker, worms etc now it seems to be 100 extra health issues.

I would say most have been made from over medicating & now we have no choice but to medicate
p charlton Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Pigeon Fanciers Lung ..............not being able to do the thing I love & was ok at .....I'm still a Pigeon Fancier make no mistake about that. > same has been in hospital 3 times for 8 weeks in total but still love them

Guest Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Waiting for a bird to come home and waiting and waiting and waiting, after a week realising it's not coming home. On saying this, we did have one return after 6 weeks, obviously been hawked by the injury that it had got. Injury now healed and flies out with the others
frank-123 Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 waiting on your birds coming from a snfc race and you don't get a timer then you have to take your ets clock to get it cleared also road training i hate it
chris h Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Worst thing about being a pigeon fancier keeping pigeons ;D ;D
Guest Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Jealousy, Apathy, despicable acts against fellow fanciers, ie; killing their birds off, burning their lofts down, not allowing them in clubs, polo mint boundaries around their lofts, etc.
robbiedoo. Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 agree with dicky darky also waiting from september til april but jealousy is worst of all people should use it as motovation not badness its just a hobby realy is it
Tony C Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Breaking my neck for a jimmy riddle just as the race birds are due home.
doo Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 Breaking my neck for a jimmy riddle just as the race birds are due home. ;D ;D oh aye ;D ;D
pjc Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Worst thing about being a pigeon fancier is seeing the sport dieing, the backstabbing when your winning and cleaning out!
Guest Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Breaking my neck for a jimmy riddle just as the race birds are due home. Another advantage for having ETS ;D ;D ;D
Guest Hjaltland Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Having to put down an old favourite.
cheeseman Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 the worst thing for me is watching your birds hit by peregrines and not being able to stop them
joe61 Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 i think there are a few but no1 must be when the wife walks out on you and you realise you now have to clean the birds out oh happy days
Guest strapper Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 i think there are a few but no1 must be when the wife walks out on you and you realise you now have to clean the birds out oh happy days fook me joe..my thoughts entirely lol lol i wouldnt know wot to do if mine left....besides the parties and constant women calling round and beer ...life would be boring lol im glad mine chips in ...she,s one reason how i still have pigeons.
Guest Hjaltland Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Ah Joe... maybe the worst thing is discovering that your yearling is actually a young bird.. then again...
hotrod Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 i agree with most if not all of the above, the one thing that bugs me is all these (new) diseases/ viruses , when i started in the seventies you never had all the trouble you have now , it makes you sick never mind the birds
Guest IB Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 I think it's the few who can't see anyone winning without thinking they are up to something. And it ain't new. I remember as a teenager two fanciers toe-to-toe in the club after one suggested he'd seen his first bird coming after his time on the clcok. Turned out that bird was his second. But the atmosphere that caused in the club, can still 'feel' it to this day.
