I think I am right in saying that if your club is already affiliated to the RPRA your club will not be entitled to one  :-/

why not ?

Not sure of the reason, I am just relaying what I was told at our clubs last meeting. Can be checked with the RPRA for confirmation. I think you will find it is only being given to newly formed clubs.

Hi hotrod,"why not" mate,I think it's something to do with RPRA rule and having to vote new members in or not in what ever the case. The club has to be open to all applicants providing they have not bad debt etc. to other clubs and are not undesirables ie.trouble makers.Lindsay

once you've had a read through it if theres anything your not sure on then let me know and i'll see if I can help you. I beleive the RPRA rule has been changed to assist clubs to get grants.

The rule was refering to members requireing a proposer and seconder.

Current BHW View from Reddings carries latest twist on this. Last turn, RPRA changed rules to 'suit' but now the fund is saying that it's maybe their rule that is wrong. Can't force people to accept someone 'undesirable' as a member. Being 'open' does have common-sense limitations.

Think your club has to stipulate that it is open and will take any and every member regardless.

Leads to a 'Case Scenario' of if a club ever refuses a member, then it can be held to have NOT fulfilled it's purpose and they could legally ask, expect and HAVE their funding replaced.

Good job too eh!?  :-/ :-/

The position is this;  Anyone can make an application to "Awards for All".  If you are affiliated to the RPRA, their previous rule that required a proposer and seconder for membership applications, was considered undesirable by AFA, but did not preclude the application being successful - the whole application was taken on it's merits.  That rule has now been withdrawn, but AFA are now saying that the "voting" rule is undesirable.  Again it doesn't preclude an application by itself, but does not go in it's favour.  If all the other boxes satisfy the criteria laid down an application has every chance of being successful.  Up to £10K can be requested for any item, as long as it is connected with the club, and associated with providing a facility to race pigeons for any person in the club.
