b.massey Posted June 6, 2009 Author Report Posted June 6, 2009 And it looks like Monday race. Tommorow just as bad.... To be lovely in my area but bad down south/central England
Walter swanston Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 It is unlikely that there will be a race from Newbury before Monday because of the weather. This situation was reasonably predictable as far back as last Tuesday.Should a debate not be opened up on this site about the advisability of sending pigeons off in almost the full knowledge that a race was extremely unlikely on either Saturday or Sunday.Other organisations appear to be more flexible than the SNFC
b.massey Posted June 6, 2009 Author Report Posted June 6, 2009 Thank the problem is that halls are booked months in advance Walter so they need to stick to date. Yes it should be better than this tho. We all knew weekend was washout ages ago. Think fancier has to just decide wether he sends knowing it or holds back for other race. No one really to blame but would like something to come out of this that helps birds from sitting in a basket for 4-5 days when it prob could be avoided if the right sollution was thought up

When some fanciers found out what was happening on Thursday evening they took their birds to an alternative marking station to ensure that they were not beaten before liberation.

I don't think so, you must remember, drivers, transporters and marking stations are all booked for set dates. It would be great to be more flexible but sometimes that is only possible if you are a smaller organisation. But, I do agree, flexibility is the key to successful pigeon racing in this present climate.
Guest tom123 Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 can anyone supply the number for the snfc race controller the one in the bhw isnt working

Guest Vic Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 Yes. Dour weather all over. NWCombine held at Lessay. Horrible morning weather on Merseyside. They say never cast a clout afore May is out. It looks like that old saying needs deleting with the climate change. I wore a pullover under my LEATHER whilst walking the dog early this morning> ;D
frank-123 Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 lanarkshire fed canceled there race a few weeks back due to a poor weather forecast all the feds that went had a good race the birds must be at the racepoint because the weather can change very quickly in this country the downside of having birds in a basket for so long is not ideal but one thing they will be learning how to survive a holdover then race home don't get me wrong i would prefer the birds went but our climate is so changeable with so many feds canceling the birds are not learning to survive a holdover from the short races it is a killer when we ask them to fly a long way if there not clued up on what a holdover is like
