Guest IB Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 St Boswells is a funny place. Looks like an ideal tossing point for us but always have dodgy returns from there. Go 5mls past or 5mls short is always better but def not in St Boswells. May seem strange but thats how we find it. Reminded me of post on training in this area that I'd seen earlier last month:- think theres been a few getting hit around the borders ie lauder/stow /clovenfords/selkirk/st boswells its getting worse mate soon not to be able to train the birds for fear of getting hit
johno Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 returns glasgow at 9pm. 21 out of 25. 5 out of 6, 40 out of 49, 15 out of 23. pigeons still coming. struggle but getting there it seems.

Guest 67ghirl Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Reminded me of post on training in this area that I'd seen earlier last month:- Try living in the area! Our YB's first race yesterday batch of approx 12 reached the Loft when the Peregrine scattered them, managed to scare it off then as the birds regrouped and went to break to ours and neighbours Loft the Sparrowhawk went right through them nabbing one behind the trees. What a welcome home for them :-/ This is becoming quite a regular thing here with Percy attacking them, then shortly after the Sparrowhawk makes the most of the situation and comes in for the kill!!!! It's like a learned behaviour now with the S'hawk - has anyone else noticed this happening???
johno Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 alf it was a tough race race. the numbers I am putting up are people I have been with tonight except one who contaced me on here with his returns.

Spoke to a guy in Clydebank this afternoon as i had 1 of his y/b's in and tossed it in Lenzie after i had been to Gordons for feeding and was heading to Karls and this guy only had 1 out of 10 at the time and his mate had 3 out of 24 and i phoned him about 9pm and he only has 4 now and his mate 8 :o

Chris Little Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Haven't spoken to many fed members as we never had a clock set, 3/19 , 18/54 , 12/40 etc :'( :'(
ALF Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 thats not hard alf thats a disaster for these fanciers. how many had Karl? Peter from the returns i have now heard it really is a disaster mate :o :o
johno Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 from the returns i have heard alf the race is a disaster for some individuals not all. as a race it was difficult with average returns being around 63% from the information I have available. figures based on returns as of 9pm last night. 4 from 10. 8 from 24. 40 from 49. 22 from 37. 21 from 25. 5 from 6. 16 from 23. these seven returns are as far as i can make out are factual. they produce an average return of around 63%. 63% returns from a 60 mile race are not what we would like or expect but are far from being an overall disaster. extremely diificult for some i accept and hope today brings more back home.
