pigeonforce Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Have been talking to a fancier about one loft races today and we both had different views on various matters , was just wondering what members views are on here
Guest the gers Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 I had four in the north coast classic. I done alright right in it had lots of fun and meet more pigeon man. will enter it again nexted year
Guest devonred Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Entered 3 into the Somerset 1 loft race, Fantastic setup birds very well looked after and had great days out will defo enter again next year
pigeonforce Posted September 25, 2009 Author Report Posted September 25, 2009 We entered the europa this year only with 1 bird , and had a great time even if we did come 242 lol
blaz Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 entered 2 in r.p.r.a one loft race this year. was a bit miffed that the final race was a BLOW HOME.it wont stop me sending one or two next year. i would have preferred the birds to race with the wind on their nose . not so many birds would have made it home on the day . we send some of the best birds we can breed . so i think a bit harder race in the final would have been better . all said and done well done the winner.
thomasd Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 we entered scottish classic came 11th bird being auctioned this sunday

Ian McKay Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 I've got 2 entered for the kingslea one loft race in 2010 1 for the schools and one for the Phoebe appeal ; Well done Steve ;)
Chris Little Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Entered them in the past and will enter again in the future. The best one was in 2000, it was run by Nigel Cowood, our bird flew well flying Picauville twice in 8 days, got him back and in the breeding loft he went Couple of downsides I see with them is people that advertise their birds with performances like 3rd Hot Spot, 5th Hot Spot etc, these are just training tosses..... secondly, would like to see a race from over the channel again

This year Richie raced the pigeons that he baught at the sale from TOURS scoring in the open
rasbull Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 I entered the Europa Classic this year and all 3 made it to the final race! Next year I will be entering the Europa again and also will be entering the South West One Loft race. I think it is a great way of testing your breeding pairs against birds on an equal footing. You are able to judge them in a fair and unbiased way. I also believe in purchasing birds from these races as they have been tried and tested. Some real bargains to be had, as nobody pays the entry fee (£100, £200 etc) and send there worst birds do they? ;-)

sammy Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 they should be banned the lot of them they are going to be the death of pigeon racing they think cause they can win ten twenty grand at them then they have good pigeons only money making gimmicks thats all they are

Guest bigda Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 i don't believe in the one loft races as they do not give anything back to the sport, the pigeon men, and the federations and unions should have autonomy over them , and if they were to allow this to happen should be made to give to the big four unions , this is my opinion on anything to do with pigeon racing, as i see this as nothing more than a lucky dip, and why should it get all the hype, i don't think ,as we have fanciers in my own fed fly more birds in the week to there fed races, as they do in a one loft race and again in bigger birdage, and you go of yer rocket, on a bird that has raced to the one shed, in its own wee world hot spots, or such like, wake up guys before you get took right to the cleaners, just get your feds to link up to have there own £100,000 pound race on the day any day as long as you have a measurement, you don't need sharks to take yer money and yer birds, pay yer £50 pick a race where you can get a mesurment and away you go every week, you could be your own trainer and keep the moneys in our own set ups, give these city slickers the boot up,. they deserve a four country race going into a final at the end would be far more promising opportunity for all feds and union members just like the nationals pay yer 100 jimmys there you go one race for all what do you need any other for after all its the money you are affter is it not

Novice Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 I appreciate that some may be run for profit but I don't think they are all in that category. Despite the fact that it is located in the hawk infested west of Scotland I have been impressed by the organisation of the Scottish Classic One Loft Race and now that my birds are back on track I may support this next season. Being bred from generations of pigeons racing into this area this race seems a much better bet to me than sending them to a foreign climate.
